Yes, I would say so. They are water shoes and had great grip for going from lake to grass.

Q: If a child wears size 5.5 shoes in most brands, what size would you buy? Does the strap across the top help the fit? Some water shoes seem too loose.

My son wears a 4 and the 5.5 just fit-he needed more length and toe room. I don't think the largest size, size 6 would fit your 5.5 child. Hope this helps.

Do you think you should post a chart size ? I ordered size 7 big kid, and shoes came with #37 which is equivalent to size 5-5.5US.
