Oh.My.Goodness!
This is just sublime paper. I write with quite a wet nibbed pen and Pilot ink and the performance of this paper is phenomenal. I can write on both side and still get no bleed through. Really thin paper which is great for writing abroad ( Yes, people do still write letters - try it, life in the slower lane!)If you can still get Tomoe River in block paper then buy all you can. Often TR is only available in notebooks. Fine paper still but not quite the same as writing in a pad of block paper.Superb texture and feel. Lovely lovely paper! Don’t delay … experience TomoeRiver ! You’ll not look back

Best paper for fountain pens
Tomoe River paper is the best I have used for fountain pens, and this batch is no exception. No feathering, no bleed through and shows ink colours at their finest. It is not cheap however. This paper will not be for everyone. At 52 g/m2 it is quite thin and there is a certain amount of show through so writing on both sides may not be appropriate. Also some people may find it feels too flimsy for their taste. If you're looking at this product then you are likely to know about the quality of the paper, and I would highly recommend trying it if you haven't already.

The Ultimate Journalling Paper
Very fast delivery on a superb product. My one complaint was that the package was slightly dented on delivery, but that's got nothing to do with the product in question.Speaking of which, Tomoe River paper is the best writing paper I have ever used. People who aren't into stationery and pens find themselves stroking its silky surface, which allows a fountain pen (the best pairing for this paper, in my opinion) to glide across the page. However, the paper is still toothy enough that you can feel you're writing. I'd like to compare it to Rhodia or Clairefontaine, but it's completely different. It's not quite as 'icey' as Clairefontaine, but still very smooth. It has a subtle texture to it that just exudes quality, whereas the aforementioned paper brands feel plasticky in comparison (though they're still very good quality paper). It's almost comparable to Midori's paper in the MD notebooks, but the MD paper is a bit rougher. The weight of the paper is perfect for letter writing, or for filling up journals (I make inserts for my Midori Traveler's Notebook with this paper) as it is very thin, meaning you can fit lots of pages in one book. The ink does show-through the other side, but there is no ghosting, feathering or bleed-through.I can't imagine using any other brand of paper after this.

No bleed through at all.
100 sheets of the Tomoe River paper was ordered on 19th January and arrived on 27th January ... That is very quick, considering the paper was sent from Japan ... It isn't a very expensive paper at £10.39 per 100 sheets including postage and as such is still a very nice paper to write on.The paper feels and looks like an airmail quality as it is only 52 grams per square metre ... I use a Pelikan 400 series pen with an Oblique Broad nib which gives a rather wet line, particularly when using Private Reserve Tanzanite ink ... As such, I was expecting the ink to bleed through the thin paper ... I was surprised to find that there was absolutely no bleed-through visible, which is surprising when you consider the lack of thickness or texture to the paper ... The ink also dried very quickly; again a pleasant surprise.I have to admit that my preference is for a paper with some texture to it, as this one is perfectly flat ... The paper also has very little shine or sheen to it and is virtually a matt finish ... Very nice to write on as the nib glides over the paper surface ... It seems to be the perfect airmail paper.I will be looking for a more textured paper in the future, but will be using this one till then ... Strange how even some of the textured papers give a certain amount of bleed through where this thin non-textured paper has none.If you don't want the roughish surface of a textured paper and prefer a thinner paper, then this is ideal particularly considering the way it doesn't show any bleed-through ... I wouldn't suggest using this paper if you need to write on both sides.I'm glad that I tried this paper and I hope this revue has been of some use to someone out there.

Magical paper
Very light, smooth, so fine it's surprising ink doesn't bleed through, I write on both sides of the paper without issue, both white and cream are equally good. Sheening inks look wonderful. Several sheets will fold into an envelope beautifully, which makes it an economical paper to use, considering today's postal rates. So functional and practical, and for me there's bit of magic in this paper.

Recommended to all those who use real ink to write with
I had seen this paper reviewed on a blog and decided to give it a go.I ought to explain I write with a fountain pen and so am looking for paper where there is little read through and no ink bleed into the paper.Even though this is a very thin 52g paper (normal paper is 80g paper) it has excellent properties.I would not write on both sides, but there is very little read through and there is no ink bleed into the paper. This is a wonderful paper to write on, it is so smooth...Recommended to all those who use real ink to write with

Great for fountain pen
I bought this to use with a Japanese fountain pen, which lays down quite a bit of ink. Despite the paper being very thin, text is only just visible on the other side. After I bought it I realized there is a slightly thicker 68g/m2 version. Might go for that next time as no real need for the paper to be so very thin. But a lovely surface to write on.

Pricey yes, but worth it.
This paper is not the cheapest available but it is unique.Very fine thin sheets that on first look seemingly will be horrendous with broad nibbed fountain pens. Think again.Zero feathering, zero bleeding and shows off any ink to it's full beauty. By that I mean superb shading and sheening (if the ink has a sheen quality to it).It really is something you need to try if you have never used it before. I guarantee you will be blown away. It is that good.I will be purchasing more in the future. Also to add the delivery from Japan is reliable, well protected and surprisingly fast.

Good tiny notebook for foutain pens
Got this to keep in a purse on the go and it's great! Ink is super pretty on it and the dot grid helps keeping things in line without being obtrusive.

A Very Special and Lovely Paper To Work With
I had heard many good things about Tomoe River Paper over the past few years. I took the opportunity to purchase a package of 10 sheets just to experience the paper, and it was love at first write. I am a professional artist and work with many different types of paper, for graphite, ink pen, ink brush, watercolour, and more. I am very demanding of quality in paper -- it must perform its function well, and even better if it aids my work with its special properties. The Tomoe River paper was surprisingly excellent used with fountain pen and indelible ink. It is smooth and a pleasure to write on, and for such a thin paper it is nicely capable of being written on both sides with literally no "show through." I highly recommend this paper. I have purchased several hundred sheets, both in bright white and in cream colour. I did this to have recourse to the paper for years to come as I understand this paper may have been discontinued at the end of 2020 and thus current stocks are limited and will probably increase dramatically in price.
