Not useful for serious food storage, not air- or water-tight. Lids lack gaskets and don't seal.
These containers are thin. The lids are also thin, no gasket is included, and I haven't been able to get an airtight seal on either one that I have received. I have other containers that look superficially similar but are laboratory-grade, about three times as thick, have robust lids, and seal well. I use the good ones for storing flour, cornmeal, and other foods that must be protected from water vapor, oxygen, and incursions of flour beetles. The Comet Tool Company product is suitable only for keeping dust off of whatever you put in them. OK for storing nuts and bolts, gravel, potting mix, or your marble collection.There is no way they would be suitable for storing dry foods, liquids, or anything that must be protected from moisture or air. I guarantee that they will leak if filled with anything liquid. If you are looking for some containers for serious food storage, please move on and don't bother with these ones.
