How many millamps does the coil draw at 12 volt or what is the ohm of the coil ?

The trigger uses a load of ~150 milliamp while the coil has a max resistance of 100 milliohm. Hope this helps.

Do these have a built in diode?

Not for the led that is determined by the wattage of the bulb a 12 volt led 1156 should have the diode built in it.

Can you leave the relay energized for long periods of time? I want to connect to the 'load' circuit on a solar panel controller.

The load would have a big affect on how long it can run. I have LED running lights wired in on my motorcycle which are on all the time so they can be lit for many hours at a time. So far I have not had any issues with these relays. A low load through the contact would allow it to be energized forever theoretically.

What gauge is the wires I need 12 gauge but I have found normally they are only 14 gauge

On the set just received, three wires are 14 GA. (power and N.O. and N.C. wires). The other two wires (coil trigger) are 18 GA. rather than 16 GA. as indicated in one of the photographs........... also wish vendor supplied operation cycle rating, I know the rating is higher with a 30 amp load vs. a 40 amp load, but are we talking about 200,000 total cycles @30 amps or something drastically LESS????
