The Owl and the Woodpecker Hardcover – 1 November 2006

I read to my friend’s Head Start classroom, who just happen to be called The Woodpeckers, this pastValentine/Frienship Day. I selected this book…it is beautifully illustrated with large, colourful pictures and the story was perfect how two very different birds who became best friends! The fact that it was a story about a woodpecker was a bonus, the message is perfect!

This is our first non-Biblical Brian Wildsmith book, and my kids (3 & 4) ask for seconds when I read it. The 7 & 8 year olds like it also. :-) He has a unique and wonderful style as an illustrator, and the story is fun and has lessons of kindness and friendship.

This is perfect for my 5yr old as well as my Year 1 class ... great moral and stunning artwork. Brian Wildsmith has been a favourite of mine since I was a child.One tiny criticism of this version is the odd US spelling - but then, that's been a good talking point!

Great illustrations and good condition.
