Not what I expected
Wow! This book was nothing what I expected when I first started reading it. I honestly didn't expect to get very far because I didn't think I could take reading a sad book about a dead wife after just finishing two previous books that were like fairy tales. Much to my surprise and after getting past a slow start, I found it hard to put the book down. It was surprisingly much better than expected. The story is about a young widowed father and how he coupes with the loss of his wife. How he deals with her loss and manages life without her while raising their three children. Before his wife died, she made arrangements to help him along and reveals these arrangements through a series of letters. If you've seen the movie "P.S. I Love You" you will find this somewhat familiar. At the point this book and the movie seemed a lot a like and I thought it would be, there seemed to be new things that happened that I didn't expect. I don't want to go into a lot of detail for fear that I might give something away. There seemed to be a lot of things happening in this story. Although I felt there were other similarities to other movies as well and not much originality, I still enjoyed the book. There was truly enough that kept.me interested and wanting to come back to the book to find out what happened. I find that once I feel I get.to know a character(s) in a book I want to know what know what happens. There were parts of this storyline that made me cry, but it also made me smile and laugh. I found myself questioning myself as to what would I do if I was in Luke's situation? what if I was his wife and I knew I was dying? Would I have done everything she had done? Would I have left my family and friends letters? Would you?

An ok book
What I liked was that it was well written. What I didn't like was the way it ended. There was a lot of unfinished stories, like what happened to Annie and Luke, like did his daughter live and I'd be pretty upset if after 3 children and over 20'yrs of marriage and my spouse died with such a huge secret, I'd be pretty darn upset.

Bittersweet Story
I felt it started out a little slow but once the plot thickens it was hard to put down. I did not like the ending, felt it could’ve gone a bit beyond. But it was an intriguing story which I enjoyed.

First Year Rollercoaster Life after Wife Died
Absolutely 4.5 Stars! This intense psychological love story centers around Luke, who just lost his wife of 16 years (Natalie) to cancer, leaving him to struggle in a lonely house with three bereft children. Amid this family turmoil, letters to Luke start coming, written by his deceased, start coming, giving advice and also raising questions about Natalie's motives. Luke searches for answers, while dealing with his grieving kids and his own parental limitations. Something is not right, and Luke's tragic upbringing only adds to emotional tensions and sense of failure. This book will suck you in quickly as you try to understand the secrets Luke's wife never told him, as a litany of details about Natalie's past only make things more confusing. Well written and compelling, the author's spellbinding storytelling creates a believable yet poignant tale of love and suspicion. Strong characters punctuate the plotline with crisp dialogues that reveal conflicting details and multiple storyline twists. I had to finish the book in one day, enjoying my fast-paced reading journey, filled with thought-provoking questions and too many possibilities.Although this novel is easy to read, I appreciated how Audible's narration increased the tension of my reading experience. The author's strong story avoids the more objectionable and distracting elements unessential in the book's focused storyline. This was my first Emily Bleecker read, but it won't be the last. A most enjoyable and insightful read!

Pretty good
Having read and enjoyed Wreckage, I also enjoyed this book although it was a bit all over the place. Seems Ms Bleeker didn't want to focus on any one issue and brought many into the mix, which did not work too well by the end. Lots of emotion, lots of emotive issues, but in the end it was hard to really like any of the characters. OK

Not a good enough story-line to pull you in, like it should do.
The concept of the novel is good. Like the film P.S. I love you, leaves letters to help them move on, she does the same but in a different way.Such an overload on descriptive words, for example, the suit, shirt, etc if you have to write over four pages on just that, then to me, its a method for dragging a story out. It continues throughout the entire novel. There are a lot of characters in this novel, only issue is, you don't get that attachment like you do with most characters, they lack that depth , likeable or dis-likeable. That personal touch where you connect with them was lacking for me. The one who stood out was Jessie, but she comes into the story half way.I had already figured out the plot and who was who, the connection etc, even though the author tried to throw it with another (without giving it away) I had already guessed, which is a shame. If you don't guess, I would say on a kindle the last 15-20% is better, but then the story just ends, just like that lolNot a bad read for the price, never read one from this author before.

an excellent read, very emotional
As soon as I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down. Such a strong storyline, I felt like I was actually in the story. Very emotional and lots of twists and turns. I can’t wait to read another of Emily’s books

Emotional and evocative
A beautifully written, heartwarming and heart breaking tale of love, loss, secrets and lies. After reading the synopsis I was initially sceptical as the plot seemed implausible but I pursued it as I enjoyed "Wrecked," another of Bleeker's novels. I'm glad I did as I loved it and powered through it. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Different, and definitely absorbing!
I have just read this book (Kindle edition) and it is well-written, definitely not sloppy, definitely no unnecessary sex (I really don't need to know what happens in a novel once they've reached the bedroom!) and an absorbing story. My only 'complaint' is that I would have liked a less abrupt ending.
