Great for Hearing Impaired Users
My DH went to a Hearing Impaired Centre to try phones out & chose this as stylish, easy to use & good volume controls (also has a flashing light) . They would have had to order it in & then charge us for delivery. We gave them a donation & found it on Amazon for nearly ÂŁ20 less in price. It is certainly an excellent phone. Caller number comes up. Has memory for preset numbers. Handsfree & handset operated. Separate controls for volumes for ringer, handsfree volume & handset volume. Up to 60 dB volume. Large numbers. Clear display.Requires a ccess to a plug socket as well as a phone socket due to the power. Very pleased with it.

The ring tone is non existent .
I liked the fact that you can turn up the volume ,that works really well .I was stood next to it and i couldnt hear it ring ,even on loudest setting .It does have a blue light for alerting calls ,the phone is in the hall ,so if im in the lounge its impossible to know its ringing .Have extended the lead ,but it still means i have to watch it all the time .Overall a good phone and was a quick delivery .

Fantastic phone for the hard of hearing!
Bought this for a 91 year old who needs an amplifier on her phone due to being extremely deaf even with hearing aids. She'd previously been using an old BT one (almost 30yrs old!) with amplifier. This phone is fantastic - not only does it have a very good amplifier but there's also a volume switch to increase the sound further. At the moment she only uses the volume to number 3 and it goes up to 9 so there's further capacity for if/when her hearing deteriorates further. She's been using the phone for a month now and I'm pleased to say it's working fantastically well. The phone isn't cheap but when you calculate the cost of trying cheaper ones (and possibly failing) it works out good value for money. Would wholeheartedly recommend it!!!

Two-way conversation is impossible when the Boost feature is activated
This Doro 4000 Magna phone was bought for a hearing-impaired 91-year old. The phone has an extra amplification (boost) button that when pressed amplifies the sound of the call. When the boost button is pressed the caller’s voice is amplified but the receiver’s voice is virtually muted at the caller’s end. The caller hears just a very faint trace of the receiver’s voice. This makes two-way conversation effectively impossible. It’s worth noting that the User Manual says “It is only possible for one person at a time to talk when the Boost Button is activated.”If the recipient of a call were to press the Boost button only when the caller is speaking and to release the button when they want to speak this issue wouldn’t be a problem. However, it means the Boost button is useless for deaf users with cognitive impairment, such as dementia.Although the design of the phone has a fault, Amazon’s returns service is faultless. It is simplicity itself to return an item; there was no quibble and the refund was received promptly.
