A really quick but meaningful read.

I originally wrote this review for my website [...] thought id post it here as well just to let everyone what a good book it is!I have to admit that Im not a regular reader. However the offering of reading about Richard Branson is always something I like the sound of. He is an inspiration to everyone, whether you are a business person or not. I still find it incredible the size and the amount of businesses he has built up, he is truly a living legend.I was expecting this book to be a bit self-promoting and boastful, but its not. The experiences he talks about are incredible, they begin from when he was very young to things that have happened in more recent times. Near the end of the book he even talks about when he turned 40, and was at an all-time low, possibly in a mid-life crisis. For a man like him to talk about something like that shows he is not dissimilar to you and I.The book is only a short read (128 pages). Because of the nature of the subjects he talks about and the way its straight to the point you won't get bored reading, you may even read it all in one go. Don't buy this book if you want Richard Branson to tell you how to get rich, but do buy it if you want to learn about him and the things he believes in, those things that have led him to such huge success.

Richard Branson is a house-hold name in global business. More often than not, we perceive entrepreneurship as a mind-boggling undertaking that keeps people awake all night. In his book titled Screw it, Let's Do it (2006),Branson brings a new perspective to the manner in which business ought to be perceived. He contends that it is feasible to have fun while making a ton of money. As he puts it, "I work hard and I play hard"(1). Brandson says he is honest when he tells people that there are no secrets to becoming a millionaire. He even insists that "there are no rules to follow in business"(12). Many folks reading Branson's words would be tempted to take them with a pinch of salt but he proves with verifiable anecdotes in this book that it is very feasible to make a lot of money without sacrificing personal pleasure. His modus operandi is "Screw it, let's do it." He does share some basic tenets that guarantee success in the business world:"Believe it can be done, have goals, never give up, prepare well, have faith in yourself, and live life to the full"(1). The lesson l learned reading Branson's book is to keep trying and to never give up.Screw it, Let's Do it is not all about business. Branson feeds readers with existential lessons. He puts a high premium on family values. In his own words, "put the family... first"(68). He describes his Virgin Corporation as "a big family"(68).This business guru gives pride of place to teamwork. He has the conviction that successful entrepreneurs have the savvy to pick the right people and reward talent. In his own words, " I have learned always to reward talent"(76).Richard Branson's book was a pleasant surprise to me. It feels good to hear from someone who is filthy rich and yet so down-to-earth. I would recommend this book to friends, family members and co-workers without hesitation.
