Stop Smoking Device: Digital Tracker & Coach to Help Cut Down & Quit Smoking

This is my second Quitbit, and I'm not a smoker. What?!I've found that this is a cool, gentle, and effective way to help friends curb their smoking habit. It's way more fun & acceptable to hand a friend a Quitbit v. lecturing them about smoking. Then, they are able to start tracking usage and slowly start reducing, all without the pressure.And, the product itself is solid. Very slick physical lighter, and the iOS app is a nice companion.

Excited to use it & the technology & features were great but ultimately I still had a hard time quitting due to withdrawal & cravings. It's worth a shot trying - I've just had a very hard time quitting smoking overall. Very pleased with the product though. Perhaps I'll try using it again.

1st one arrived and didn't work out of the box. Returned it. 2nd one wouldn't sync due to firmware issues and they only offer Windows based tools for upgrading firmware. Finally found someone with Windows who let me flash the lighter. Even after flashing it would only connect intermittently. After a couple weeks, the screen on the lighter doesn't work. Just a piece of junk.

I bought the Quitbit looking to try to cut back. The lighter does look pretty slick. When I first used the Quitbit, it didn't pair with my Android. I contacted customer support and they said that I should update the firmware. It was pretty easy and afterwards, it worked.I do find lighting with the heating coil a little annoying. It takes a good second to light up and you have to drag on it. It gets gunked up a little, but you can remove the plate to clean it. Theres a replacement heating coil included just incase it breaks or becomes too dirty. Overall, I feel OK about this purchase and its good to know how much ive been smoking and im a little closer to my goal.

Things like this should be illegal. This is an awesome toy and a decent money maker for the company that sells these, but it will do nothing for your chances to quit. Take it from someone with 24 years experience, who has tried every possible toy like this before just stopping smoking.Don't believe me? Try any of the multiple of free phone apps that do the same thing. And no, it makes no difference that this thing is "smart" and senses when you light up. It will just make you feel bad.

I've been using Quitbit for about a week now and can really say it helps me cut back and control my smoking. I'm well on my way to stop smoking by tracking how much I light up each day and reducing day by day. Small wins! When I'm ready and down to 2-3 cigs a day I'll quit smoking.
