Do not watch the movie!
This book is amazing, the movie on the other hand is really poor. Please consider this book even if you did not like the movie. Very inspiring book!

A really harrowing tale from the inside of Amazon!
A very good read for those who want to experience the really treacherous Amazon from the comforts of their home. This book teaches you how insignificant we are in Nature and are at the mercy of God. Also, things we take for granted, like food, water and shelter are not assured in nature. You get a first-hand experience of not-so-well explored a forest, Amazon. Just that towards the end you will have a question hovering over your mind.

A great read on an epic tale of survival.I enjoy reading the book after a movie that is based on a true story.

Wonderful, terrifying and triumphant read
Seeing the movie made me want to read the book. I usually read the book and don’t bother with the movie. This story is different. I KNEW the film had to be leaving parts out, and it did, for good reason. For those that say the beginning of the book is slow, I disagree. Yossi is introducing the characters in quite an effective manner. He gives us what we need to know at the beginning, not in a boring manner as some state, but just enough. We characters continue to develop during the story. The tale is harrowing, terrifying and amazing. To have Yossi go through what he did and have the mental strength to persevere is awe inspiring. I do not believe I could have ever done what he did. It shows the strength of his character and what humans can do when the will to live is strong. I believe that the Amazon tried its best, but decided it needed him and allowed him leave.

Not for animal lovers
It’s good if you skip over the abuse and slaughter scenes. I had to stop by page 80. I couldn’t take any more. 😞
