Great quality for the price
I purchased this for the top of my wood stove. So far I’m extremely impressed! For the cost, it is extremely sturdy and well made, and does the job. It is pretty and holds a decent amount of water!

perfect
This steamer is so much better than the last one I bought from a different seller. We use it on our pellet stove and it adds humidity to the dry air. It is very sturdy and pleasant looking.

Works great
Very handsome look to add to your stove and works well to keep humidity up in dry mountain air. Well constructed.

Collects hard water very easily
This steamer is of great quality and sturdiness. However, I am surprised that the amount of calcium/hard water build up that has accumulated so quickly.

2 years in. Glad I went with this
I have a fairly large wood burning stove in my house. I tried a few cast iron teapots and hated them (cleaning, refilling, rusting, etc). This pot however, will be on my stove for years. It's easy to clean, doesn't rust, i can pour water right through the top without taking it off the stove. I keep a empty, plastic pitcher near my kitchen sink, and use it to refill this pot as needed, without taking the pot's lid off or removing it from the fireplace. it's great. And i refill it OFTEN; i'm amazed as how quickly water evaporates when i have a fire roaring.

Great value
Works great! Easy to clean and holds enough water for over night on the cold winter nights. Worth every penny!

Recommended classic simple steamer
Simple heavy steamer works well without boiling over like our wood stove kettle does. Gets through the 3 Quarts of water in about 4 hours for us. I read about the enamel chipping so have been careful when replacing the lattice lid but no problems as yet. I would buy again.

Disappointing Finish
John Wright is one of the oldest cast iron companies in the US, but this is cheap made in China stuff here. The finish is sprayed on enamel paint that I suspect will not hold up for long. The first one arrived with patches that had no paint at all, just bare metal. The second at least had 100% coverage but the paint looked thin, and in no way resembled porcelain. Can you tell I am disappointed?
