FFIX Physical cartridge, takes me back to 2001 excitedly holding the PS1 version on release day.
Very happy with this purchase, this is a true collectors item and most likely the last time there will be a physical copy of this brilliant game.

Wonderful game with some port flaws
This is a carbon copy of the remaster for iOS, which made its way first to PS4 and now other platforms. Being the second best in the series behind FF7 in my opinion, it's wonderful to have the game playable in a portable form on the Switch. It naturally plays as addictively as it did back in the early 2000s, the story still pulls you in and makes you fall in love with the characters, and it even has the boosts added in other versions to make random battles/levelling up less tedious. This port, however, is not without flaws.Technical issues that could have been addressed by the developer:- The sound quality is poor compared to the ports of FF7 & 8 on the Switch, even following the patches that were meant to fix it, which makes playing in handheld mode slightly less ideal.- Like the other console ports, this maintains the same interface as the iOS version, which makes it appear a lazy, unoptimised port. I would have preferred something similar to the original PS1 version and thought this would have been an ideal opportunity to amend this.- Backgrounds appear blurry against the character models. I've seen fan-made high-res versions of the pre-rendered backgrounds online, so again it feels like they rushed and didn't take as much care in this regard as they could have.My only other qualm relates to the lack of an achievement system like other platforms, but this is a Nintendo-specific issue and nothing to do with the developer, so I haven't taken away for this. The main perk here I suppose is that you can unlock all skills, get infinite money etc without being locked out of the achievements, but why would you play it like that anyway?Overall, worth it if you're a fan and want a portable version of a classic game. Plays flawlessly and without issue on a UK Switch, however, because it's an import you can't claim the gold coins for the My Nintendo Rewards Programme.
