Description
- The Amaroo is a hybrid air pruning growing container that allows you to grow your plants in either traditional or hydroponic method as you want, when you want, giving you total freedom to adapt for the season. You won't believe the difference until you try it out for yourself. Spring and summer sun is free, take the Root Locker outside and grow the mammoth garden the season of the Sun can bring. When the season cools, bring the Root Locker indoors where hydro is king.
- Simply fill with rockwool cubes, perlite, coco coir, clay balls, or a little of each and add a tub or tray underneath to act as a reservoir, then a pump and piping up to a drip collar and you have the basic setup for top feed hydroponic growing method
- When it warm outside switch the medium out for potting soil and grow under the sun
- Flood and drain tables serve as an excellent reservoir. We suggest using a 2 foot by 2 foot table 4 inches deep. The pump can be located between root lockers because the bottom is smaller than the top. The exact dimensions of the 17G Hybrid Root Locker are 13 inches square on the bottom, 19 inches square on the top and 15 inches deep and holds 17 gallons or 2.3 cubic feet. It is a fact that plants can live many years longer in a Root Locker than a traditional pot of the same volume.
- Every Amaroo is held together with premium quality zinc plated wing nuts and bolts and will resist rusting for years. Root Lockers have a 10 year warranty on the sides and floor. Bolts can easily be installed and removed, without tools because a bolt headrest is built in. The headrest keeps the bolt from spinning when the wingnuts are turned on.
The dimensions of the 17R are 17.5 inches at the tom tapering down to 13 inches square at the base and is 15 inches deep for a total of 17 gallons or .16 yards of volume. Inside the 17G Root Locker there are a couple important features worth pointing out. The raised ribs running from top to bottom are adventitious root guides. These guides will stop roots from strangling the plant, they force the root in another direction, usually down or up and come in very handy when fast growing species and long term living is concerned. At the bottom of the 17G Root Locker are air slots that allow roots and beneficial bacteria and fungi to get extra oxygen needed for massive root development. The air slots can also reduce disease and over watering stress, a common care issue. Plants can live in Root Lockers far longer than a traditional container of the same size. In fact, most species can be double in size when grown in a Root Locker. This is something you have to see to truly appreciate. All species can be larger when grown in a Root Locker regardless of the soil bound or hydroponic growing methods.
