The only thing that works for mustard algae!
We bought a house that came with a pool; sellers left the pump off for 30 days and I ended up with a pond. We cleared that up after weeks of algaecide and vacuuming but we kept having little piles of “sand” on the bottom of the pool. Turned out to be mustard algae and we tried every product in the book - Algaecide 60, Clorox super Algaecide, nothing worked. Skill-It was recommended to us by our pool maintenance folks and it is a miracle. It did take two weeks to get rid of the mustard algae completely with vacuuming, backwashing, rinsing and treating but eventually we had a sparkling pool with no algae! Bonus: the sheen it creates on top of the water has helped to keep bees/wasps away!

Controls wasps and bees in pool.
Wasps around our Phoenix pool used to be a big problem in the summer. This turned out to be a good solution. It works great. Contrary to what some people think, it is not poisonous to the bees or wasps, it lowers the surface tension of the water. This keeps bugs from perching on the water to drink. In AZ which has a lot of mud wasps, it keeps them from getting the water they use to build their nests. Some of the bugs realize they can not stay for a drink so they go away. Other sink and drown in the pool. Expect to see quite a few bees and/or wasps when you first start using it. Then they stop coming around.

Nice and clean
Arrived well packaged and without delays. Developed a small leak because it was left out in high heat and sun without proper notification ofdelivery. However, the added protection of the inner package bag stopped any spillage. Good job.

Magical!!!!
First, let me say that not once in my 36 years have I written a product review, until now. I cannot begin to describe how utterly blown away I am with the effectiveness of this product. I live in Arizona near the mountains where paper wasps are particularly bad and we haven’t been able to use the pool because - no exaggerating - we would have 10 wasps at a time in there. I just paid $$$ to pebble tec and to put in a Baja shelf and nope, no one could swim because of the wasps. I tried pest control companies, peppermint spray, Raid… everything, until a neighbor recommended this stuff. I was skeptical until I added 5 oz in the pool - literally just walked around the perimeter and tossed it in - and the next day was shocked to discover a whopping 26 dead wasps in there. 26!!!!! I would literally watch as the wasps would either land and drown, or if they were smart, fly away entirely. Each day, fewer and fewer wasps showed up. This went on for maybe 3-4 days. Now it’s been a week and for the past two days I have literally seen maybe one wasp fly by and it didn’t even bother to come anywhere near the water. I am just mystified at how well this stuff works, and it’s completely safe for humans! I am so so so appreciative to have found this and will be a customer for life. Trust me, best wasp control product you’ll ever find!!!!!!!

Eliminates Wasps and Controls Black Algae
As a New Mexico pool owner, we typically deal with wasps every year. In previous years, we've had pest control eliminate a few nests we had on our property, however, the pool continued to attract wasps that had nests elsewhere in the neighborhood. Last year both our daughter-in-law and pup were stung by these pesky critters. I was determined this year to find an alternative method to eliminate wasps and found a post on Nextdoor stating that Skill-it was used in their pool to eliminate both their wasp problem and algae problem. Since we had a spotty black algae problem too, I thought I'd give this product a try. To my amazement, this product worked for both! Yes, the pool does bubble up for a few days because the algecide breaks up the water tension so that when the wasps land on the water surface to get a drink, they fall in and can't fly out. Also, the black algae spots are no longer there too! After using this product, brushing the remaining spots and rubbing a broken chlorine tablet on the problem areas, the black algae spots have not returned! Our pool hasn't looked so good in years! Also, if we see a wasp near the pool, we will put about 4oz of Skill-it in for a night cycle to keep the pesky wasps away! This maintenance occurs about once a week to once every two weeks! For us, this product is definitely worth every penny!

Works quickly on stubborn mustard algae
I had an issue with mustard algae that kept coming back. There were various spots on the pool walls where the mustard algae had a strong foothold. Even after using a stiff 50/50 brush, the spots would still come back. It was to the point that I was brushing the walls so often and hard, that I was scraping plaster off the walls to try and get rid of the algae. I used yellow gone and it failed to do anything other than affect my water chemistry balance.I cleaned my cartridge filters and didn't shock the pool as my free chlorine was already high from previous treatments still (mustard algae is very chlorine resistant). I put the entire bottle of product in our 35k gallon pool. The slightest bit of agitation will cause foaming/bubbles....but I didn't care. By the next morning, the mustard algae spots were gone. The foaming lingered for at least a day. When I went to clean the filter cartridges, they were all coated with a yellowish green scum-like substance (assuming dead algae amongst other things). Going forward, whenever it rains or there is a wind storm, I will add some product in to keep the algae from coming back. I will only be using this brand of algaecide going forward. Well worth it!
