Five Point Someone: What Not to do at Iit

Don't try and relate this to the inspired film '3 Idiots' - you will be disappointed. This is an original plot, and much of which unfolds after the first half. A good read but not as good as Chetan bhagat's other books!

Chetan Bhagat did it again, Very nice and funny book.It's a pity that the book has been printed badly.

Chetan Bhagat is bae his writing style is really funny and an easy read! Love this book. Stayed till 2 am to finish it. 😁

If you are thinking that this book is as amazing as 3 idiots movie..so you are very wrong.. I purchased this book only because of this movie..but the novel was a total bore...there are some chapters which are good but if I will say about the whole book then this book is a one-time book..please don't waste your money..it was the worst experience reading this book.

Bhagat schreibt äußerst flüssig, ich habe das sehr zügig gelesen. Einige Kapitel gegen Ende sind auch spannend und mitunter ungehemmt schmalzig - Bollywood gedruckt. Im Mittelpunkt stehen drei Studenten und ihre oft banalen Jungmännergedanken - Arbeit vermeiden, Frauen beschlafen, Alkohol, Kumpeltum. Mitunter ist mir der Ton zu vulgär, und Frauen spielen in der Handlung selbst nur Nebenrollen. Mitunter müffelt Five Point Someone regelrecht nach Herrensekreten. (Auch der Bollywood-Hit 3 Idiots, der sich vage an Five Point Someone orientiert, ist vulgär; das Buch gefällt mir etwas besser als der Film, vielleicht weil man es sich in der Fantasie dezenter vorstellt als im manchmal unangenehm direkten Film.)Der indische Erfolgsroman liefert viele Hintergründe übers Studium am elitären Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Indische Kultur enthält er dagegen nur begrenzt, eher Vodka-Gelage bei Pink Floyd-Musik. Es gibt aber ein paar Einblicke ins Familienleben, so das belastende Brautgeld für zu verheiratende Schwestern oder die ebenso beklagenswerte Keuschheit der "guten Inderin". Die Handlung lässt ein paar kleinere Fragen offen (so den familiären Hintergrund des Ich-Erzählers Hari), aber im Vergleich zu einem üblichen Bollywoodfilm bleiben die Fragezeichen klein.
