Pip & Posy The New Friend

A great book about friendship and given to others

This storyline is more complex than some of the other Pip and Posy books. The changing dynamic as a new character is introduced elicits deep emotion from a toddler 'reader' as the bond of Pip's and Posy's friendship is threatened by Zac. The menacing seagull's theft quickly grabs the reader's attention and unites the three main characters in a problem-solving mode. Their collaboration produces the nicest sand castle I've ever seen and demonstrates the power of teamwork. Secondary characters throughout the book add another enjoyable dimension. My granddaughter 'read' it over and over again after it was initially read to her. I think this may be my, and her, favorite Pip and Posy story.

We got our first Pip and Posy book at the library and it was the smaller 5" format which was just okay. But these books are much larger and it really shows the detail of the beautiful artwork. The themes are standard kids book fare and are well written, but what sets these apart for me is the art. We'll be ordering more of these for sure!

My 2 year old loves these books and has done for several months. I’m sure he’ll enjoy them a while longer.

We have all books from the series and this one is the first one I am not too thrilled about. The story idea is great, but I find myself changing the text, the words don't seem very thought out, the editing side is just lacking and very disappointing: "new ice cream". Really, does anyone say: I have "new" ice cream? My kids still love it for great illustrations.
