The cover was too small, the elastic couldn't stretch to cover the whole iron board

Not very durable. Not enough fabric to wrap underneath ironing board.
I bought this in Sep 2015 because the cotton cover and foam padding that came with my tabletop ironing board was so thin that the metal grid surface of the ironing board kept leaving grid marks on everything I ironed. The padding of this cover is not thin but neither is it thick. It’s just one layer. If I use just this cover, I still get grid marks on the clothes I iron. So, I’ve had to stack layers of other padding under this – old towel, 2 layers from an old never-used scratchy acrylic blanket (feels like quilt batting), 2 layers from old cotton shirts, 1 original thin ironing board cover. This padding doesn’t have enough extra fabric that goes under the board. People who make their own board covers usually allot 3 to 4 inches of extra fabric around the edges so there’s ample fabric to grip under the board. This cover is supposed to be silicone-coated cotton for stain resistance and durability. I don’t know if that really makes the cover stain resistant since I don’t normally stain my board covers – even non-silicone-coated ones. I can say though that the silicone coating doesn’t help at all with durability. My cover already has two tears (small, on the wide side of the cover). When I examined it, the blue cotton top is very thin. I don’t machine wash this. As the instruction says, “damp wipe only”. I’ve used a damp rag to keep this cover clean. The cover is not its original vibrant blue anymore. It’s faded blue with a brownish hue which I assume is due to heat (of course, ironing). The original ordinary thin cotton cover I replaced with this was washable and not brown-hued and torn after 9 years. This silicone-coated cover is only 1.4 years old but already brown-hued and torn. I think that, next time, I’ll just make my own ironing board cover from heavy cotton fabric. What did I do with the small tears? The fiber pad is polyester and was exposed because of the tears on the top blue layer. I didn’t want to risk the iron coming in contact with the polyester fiber padding underneath so I inserted fusible interfacing underneath the tears/holes. The interfacing is the white that you see in the photos. That will have to do until I have time to sew a proper cotton board cover or until I buy a compact (36” length) ironing board. My tabletop ironing board is 30.5” long. My ironing board is metal and very smooth. Like I said, the cover doesn’t have a lot of extra fabric to go underneath the board. This (not enough fabric) + the smooth surface of the board make it hard to fit the cover on the board by myself. If I slip the cover over one end of the board, it would slip as I pull towards the other end of the board. It needed two people to fit the cover. I first slipped the cover over the wide end of the board. Then, I had someone hold the two corners of the wide board while I stretched the cover and slipped it over the narrow end of the board. Two pairs of hands make it very easy to fit this cover on my ironing board.

Careful, it's hot! But awesome.
I bought this for the Honey-Can-Do Tabletop ironing board with deluxe iron rest. The cover that came with the board was woefully inadequate, so I bought this to add to it. As other reviewers have mentioned, when you first unpack it, it appears as though it won't even come close to fitting. However, it does relax once it's out of the package for 10 minutes or so. I put it over the tip of the board and pulled it towards the back, letting it sit for a couple of minutes partway through. It ended up being an extremely good fit with no wrinkling at all. I just ran the iron over it at the end and it was all smooth.Warning: this cover gets hot enough to burn you. So if you run a hot iron over your item of clothing then immediately smooth the fabric that was just ironed, or touch the cover as you lift the clothing to move it, the board will be scalding. This makes it work really well for de-wrinking clothes, but does take some getting used to.

Excellent and highly recommended
A couple of months ago I ripped the cover that came with my mini ironing board that my parents had given me when I went away to college many years ago. The board has 2 inch legs and doesn't look anything like the board in the pic, so wasn't sure if this cover would be compatible with my board. Was a bit wary of buying due to the reviews where people say it takes 2 to put on because it's so tight. I was able to put the cover in place by myself but it takes several minutes of pulling and smoothing. If you see any of the white elastic on the sides, or feel ripples underneath the cover, you haven't pulled it tight enough. (You must run your hand down the length of the board because the pad is so thick, by looking you can't see it's rippled underneath). It took a good 5 minutes of pulling and smoothing, and it fits perfectly. Much thicker than my original cover, good quality, a slightly darker blue than in the pic shown, no pocket but has the little loop on the underside I guess it would have attached to. Since my ironing board is only a couple of inches off the table, wouldn't have made sense to have a pocket anyway. I liked the look of my old cover better (blue and white striped), but this is completely functional, fits perfectly, doesn't slip off and looks like it's going to last the life of the board. The description says "cover and pad" but be aware it's a cover with a built in pad, so this isn't a two piece kind of thing, which I think is better since it's easier to put on that way. This product is great and would buy again if I ever need another one.
