I can use VCR & Intellivision video game again!
I have used it a few times to test it out, and I'm happy. It does what I want/need. My new TV only has HDMI inputs. I used this to connect my old VCR so I can still watch some tapes. I also have an old Intellivision video game system, that only has an analog RF Channel 3/4 output. The only way to use it is to plug it into the coax RF input on the VCR tuned to channel 3, and then use this to connect to the TV.Performance: I am happy with the Intellivision video game, clearer than I expected. Playing the old games on a new 65" TV gives them a new life. Old VCR tapes are a little grainy, but better than I expected. (They were originally recorded to fit 3 movies on one tape, so the recording is not the best for the media.) The original image of both (game or tape) is only 480i being up-converted by this box and then again by the TV to it's 2160p display resolution. The directions say there is an output switch to select between 720P & 1080P. There is only one switch on the device, labeled to select PAL or NTSC. (NTSC & PAL are two different formats for encoding the image. NTSC is used here in the US, PAL is used in Europe) It is mislabeled, if it is capable of PAL, the selection is done automatically by the software in the device. The TV tells me the input resolution. When this is set to NTSC the output is 720, when this is set to PAL the output is 1080.

Converting AV to HDMI
I was told by many that now that my TV was HDMI only that I would have to make a change with my other electronics, but after research I found this device that converts AV to HDMI. Thanks to this all of my electronics work with my new HDMI TV.

Ok not great
I ordered 3 of these adapters. Two of the three will give a distorted or grainy pic every couple of weeks. Changing the setting on the adapter corrects the picture but I wouldn't recommend them at this point.

Try Another Option
I get a wobbly black and white picture with the VCR that I bought this to convert to HDMI, so I could watch some old VHS tapes that I have. Running it powered, so that isn't the issue. Just doesn't do a good job.

Junk
Works when it wants to. Everytime I go to use it I have to unplug it and plug it back in 4-5 times to get it to respond and lately it seems to be getting even worse. Don't waste your money on this p.o.s.

Great device.
Used this AV to HDMI converter to connect a VCR AV output to a Visio HDMI input. Worked as expected.
