Sweet book series!
My daughter was begging for more sweet stories like The Moffat's. This series seemed similar and she fell in love!

Celebration of the little things that made pioneer American family life special
Turning four is practically turning ten, or at least almost six. Just ask sweet little sister Bonnie who is thrilled to be out of babyhood and scrambling to play catch up to her 3 older sisters and 1 older brother in this enchanting Appalachian pioneer farm family.Happy Little Family is the first of four books in the Fairchild Family series by Rebecca Caudill. HLF is a beautiful and idyllic opening to a lovely and life giving series that focuses in on the daily milestones of a just turned 4 year old pioneer and life on that early American farm. While this first book follows the seasonal rituals and ways of life natural to the Fairchild, Watterston, Huff and Sawyer families, it specifically focuses in on the relationship between Bonnie and her father - a strong, loving, tender and wise farmer who is the special ally of his littlest girl. This series and this book especially is a true celebration of traditional family values and the real dynamics of a happy but totally normal family. My young family got lost in this story and moaned every night when the chapter ended and we had to put the book down for another day.An excellent book for family read aloud. Easily as enjoyable as Little House on the Prairie, Caddie Woodlawn, Understood Betsy, Betsy Tacy or Grandma's Attic. Equally enjoyable for brothers and sisters. In terms of difficulty or intensity, it is a touch easier than Betsy Tacy. Comparable to Grandma's Attic or Understood Betsy. A wonderful introduction to Caddie Woodlawn or Laura Ingalls Wilder. An excellent series to own with lovely sketch illustrations. An ideal series for grandparents to have for visits with grandchildren.

The characters are kind to their family members
I read "The Happy Little Family" by Rebecca Caudill. Bonnie, the youngest, wants to be as old as her sister, Debbie, who is 6. Since I'm the youngest in my family, I always wish I can be as old as my oldest sister. In the end, Bonnie realizes it's good to be young. This book has brought me a lot of joy in reading about this family. ~Savannah - age 8

A great book for kids!
This is a book review written by my nine-year old:Happy Little Family by Rebecca Caudill is a fun book that shows a little four year old trying to prove that she is grown up. A story I would recommend to ages 6 and up. If you are wondering if this is a good book for your child here is what I think of it. The book has good literature and no bad messages. Now I will share one good message: responsibility; such as the time Athly saved Bonnie from a rattlesnake! One of the most important messages in the book is responsibility. And now you have read my opinion of Happy Little Family.😁

Book report, review style
This review is written by my 10 year old daughter.I read the book, Happy Little Family by Rebecca Caudill. The story takes place in the pioneer days. There was a little girl named Bonnie, and she wanted to be like her older siblings, and she wanted to do everything that her older siblings did. Bonnie thought she was big enough to do everything her siblings did such as, go on a mountain walk by herself, find arrowheads, and even walk across a wooden bridge by herself. She realizes she is too small to handle things herself. It wasn’t as challenging of a book for me, but it was pretty good.

Great and cute book!
HAPPY LITTLE FAMILY by Rebecca Caudill is an amazing book. It is about a little girl who wants to be big like her brother and sisters. She goes through her four year old life wanting to be big, and go on adventures. I think that it is a very cute and enjoyable little book. I recommend this book highly for youngsters who want to be big. I read it in like an hour, and I am not a very quick reader, so I don't think it will take long. I like this book a lot.

A Review from My Eight-Year-Old Daughter
Happy Little Family by Rebecca Caudill is about a four-year-old girl named Bonnie who wants to be like her big brother and sisters, Althy, Chris, Emmy, and Debby. When they go ice skating, searching for arrowheads, across a bridge, or get a new hat, she wants to do it too. I want others to read this book because it is about family and growing up. I like this book because it is exciting, and the illustrations look like black and white photos. I read the whole book in two days. I love this book!
