A charming read
I have a little confession to make- yes yet another one. Although I have Libby's debut novel called 'The Lido' on my ever growing 'to be read' mountain, I haven't actually read it yet. Whoops what a mistake to make. I read the synopsis for 'The 24-Hour Cafe' and it certainly sounded like the story I would enjoy. I wasn't wrong either because I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The 24-Hour Cafe' but more about that in a bit.It didn't take me long at all to get into this book. In fact by the time I got to the part where Mona and Hannah choreograph their own dance to a particular song, I knew that 'The 24- Hour Cafe' was going to be addictive reading and that I would find it extremely difficult to put the book to one side for any length of time. I was spot on too. I picked the book up on a cold and rainy day in the North East of England and suddenly I was transported away to a far brighter and a far happier place, which meant that I forgot how rubbish the weather was. I was enjoying the book so much that I neither noticed just how quickly the time was passing nor how quickly the pages were turning. I was staggered to realise that I had been reading for three solid hours and I had already read a third of the book. I motored my way through the rest of the story.'The 24-Hour Cafe' is well written. Libby grabbed my attention with such a lovely sounding synopsis and the story sealed the deal as it were. Libby has created such likeable characters and she describes them so well that it was if they had come to life and that they were just as real as you and I. I found that I began thinking of them as real and thinking of them as friends. Libby writes so movingly and so realistically that I really did feel as though I was part of the story myself. The story isn't fast paced, which might not suit everybody but for me, this worked in the story's favour as it meant that we could gradually get to know each character. 'The 24-Hour Café' is a charming, feel good, uplifting and thought provoking read. I enjoyed every single minute of it.In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The 24-Hour Cafe' and I would definitely recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Libby's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Th24 hour Cafe
This book is disappointing. It is in no way as good as Libby Page's first book, The Lido. This book moves around from times and places to other times and places and is annoyingly repetitive. I couldn't find any empathy with the main characters. The proof reader needs telling about basic grammar and there are instances where words are missing. The LIdo, was a super book with well-drawn characters working towards a common goal.

Feel good fiction
A great little story set in a cafe over 24 hours. The story focuses on the lives of the two cafe workers, Mona and Hannah, their friendship and their hopes for the future. An uplifting story intertwined with stories from other characters who visit the cafe. The characters stay with you even after you have finished reading it.

Okay
Not as good as the Lido, but ok, an easy way to pass a sunny afternoon. I won't tell you the story too many people do that so that in the end there's no point reading the book.

A good read
The 24 hour cafe was a god book. It was easy to read, th story line flowed, you got to know the characters as their stories and it was a page turner
