HFS (R) 36 PCS Grade B GAGE Gauge Block Set

I use a digital caliper for precise measurements in hand loading rifle and handgun cartridges. I wanted a gage block set to check my calipers to be certain of the instrument is giving the correct readings. This set was reasonably priced and provided blocks in a large portion of the range of my calipers. The set comes in a nice case too. The set was exactly what I needed!

I bought this set primarily to experiment with wringing and to have some fun with it with friends.This set is OK for that. The blocks are precise enough and polished well enough that they will wring and stick pretty consistently. A few things to note.The box isn't very good quality. Mine fell apart almost immediately. The blocks and the inside of the carrying case were covered in machining oil. It's a pain in the neck to remove. Also note not all the surfaces are polished enough to support wringing. None of the blocks below .3 can be wrung because they are not polished enough. For the larger blocks not all the sides are polished enough to support wringing. Just something to bear in mind.

I think this is a pretty good gauge block set for the price.The case it comes in was perfect, no damage and is great for storing the blocks.I happen to like it, its nicely made. The latches work perfectly and each block has its own space.There is even enough room between the block to use your calipers without taking them out.My only complaint is that the lapping on some of them seems to vary a little. Some seem to be a little rougher then others, not a lot just a little.The few I've tested so far are accurate enough for what I'm doing.I can definitely recommend the set for general use. However it won't be good for metrology or high spec work.

These gage blocks are a great value for a hobbiest, who, like me, wants to check the accuracy of his micrometers or calipers. My Mitutoyo micrometer measures each block's width to be well within the stated tolerances for each block. In addition, I had no problem with wringing any of the blocks together.The only problem I encountered with the set was one side of the storage box cleanly separated from the rest of the box, as I opened it for the first time. Fortunately, it was easily repaired with some Elmer's wood glue and now looks perfect and sturdy enough for me. (Perhaps, I should have subtracted a star because the box arrived broken, but there is a good chance yours won't.)

It may be a bit of overkill for me, as I am woodworker. It was purchased to help with machine setups. Item arrived half way round the world (West Australia) in perfect condition. It may seem strange buying a Imperial Gage Block set to be used in a country which has been using the metric system for around 30 years, but, most tooling in the woodworking world is still entrenched in the imperial system. Router bits and saw blades almost without exception are all still imperial. The only exception I have found is in straight router bits, there is a good selection of metric and imperial.So, this set I am sure will serve me well.

Well once I got the Sine Vice there was no doubt that a set of Gauge Blocks would be required and as I have the Tool Sickness I lost no sleep over buying this set.The quality and accuracy is excellent for this price point, I can't find any deviation worth noting they are spot on.If you are thinking about acquiring a set of gauge blocks don't hesitate these will do the job for you short of Laboratory work.Really, life is too short, do yourself a favor and get a Sine Plate or Vice and this set of Gauge Blocks and you will be as pleased as I am.

I'm no expert on gauge blocks never needed them before. But I turn tools for a living and this is a good deal for a good product. My box is sturdy and secure and the blocks are accurate and exactly what I needed. You may not to be able to build a Mars lander based on these or maybe you could? But they are good enough for any shop work I've ever done!

Ok so I don’t normally leave comments or reviews on here. But I must write my first review. I purchased this gage blocks because of the price. Yes it is cheap. Also how it’s made is also cheap. The finish on most of the gage blocks aren’t nice. No glare what so ever. There are only three blocks that has a mirror finish and that is 2”, 3”, and 4” blocks. The rest are pretty much crap. They hardly stick together. The only thing keeping them from sticking together is the oil that is applied to it so rust does not accumulate or build up.Over all for what I really need this blocks for are ok just ok. But if I could get return this blocks and get a refund I would definitely do it. I would even pay for the shipping to return it. There are other companies that makes better quality for the same price. My mistake for choosing this brand. I should have purchased “accusize” blocks. I’ve seen them from my co worker and they are nice. They all have mirror finish. I figured if I could save a few dollars it would not hurt. But hell it does hurt.I just opened the box so I can’t confirm if the sizes of the blocks are good. I will update tomorrow when I return work and will be checking each and every blocks.

Bought it for the hubby. He loves it and now loves me a little bit more.
