How does this broom retract from extended position to shorter one? Mine seems to have locked into the extended position!

If you hold it by the lower pole and twist the upper pole counter-clockwise, it will unlock. Twist the pole clockwise to lock it again.

I cant adjust the length of the broom. It keeps sliding up and down. I've tried everything. Can anyone help me with this?

I have had no problems with adjusting mine, yours may have a defect. When it gets to the length I need, I simply twist it as tight as possible, and untwist when done to have it properly fit into the dustpan and handle for storage.

How long is the broom when it is not extended? Can’t seem to find that dimension

The broom is 35” not extended and the pan & handle are 38 3/4” tall.
