Stone the Crows

This is classic rock top quality here. The remaster sound is impecable (unlike these compressed war of sound noise we get nowadays in a lot of reissues and so). Song arrangements are really thought on and delicatley done. You can tell that the members of this band were trully rock musicians and all the instruments have momentums. The vocalist, singer Maggie Bell rips it with all her heart. An astounding voice indeed! Very beautiful, suitable and intense.(Some comparisons to Janis Joplin had been made) The sound of the bass (witch was the one that got my attention thr most) is like the Klaus Voorman sound, fat, groovy and well adorned notes in hyper mode that made the chemistry between the drums (specially) so damn perfect! I don't really know the history of this band so much but I read in a small review that the guitarist, Les Harvey died of stage electrocution. So this was a compilation album made with 9 of their very best songs after his death in 1973. Overall I owe to mention that tis fine piece of rock history should get the atention of all those seekers of great music out there (specially rock n roll). You are warned! In the meantime get a Q-Tip and clean those ears for what you are about to listen will blow the heck out of you.

Nine quality tracks from such a brilliant band of musicians and a fantastic singer. What a tragedy that they were prevented from the amount of success and acclaim they truly deserved, by a cruel twist of fate (the sad demise of their guitarist Les Harvey).

Stone The Crowsには「Maggie Bell」や隠れた名ギタリスト故「Leslie Harvey」Robin Trowerバンドでヴォーカル&ベースで活躍する「Jim Dewar」「Leslie Harvey」がステージ上で感電死、後にウィングスで活躍する「Jimmy McCulloch」も参加していた「Stone The Crows」メンバーを見てみるとわりと有名なミュージシャンが在籍していました。レッド・ツェッペリンの５人目のメンバーと言われたマネージャーのピーター・グラントに見いだされファースト・アルバム「Stone The Crows」でレコード・デビューを飾る後、「Ode To John Law」「Teenage Licks」「Ontinuous Performance 」４枚のアルバムをリリースしたのち残念ながら解散・・・・・アメリカのマーケットへ向けて73年にリリースされたベスト盤でセカンド・アルバム 「Ode To John Law」から4曲 サード「Teenage Licks」から3曲フォース「Ontinuous Performance」から2曲の全9曲を収録しています。英国のジャニス・ジョプリンと言われるマギーのパワフルなハスキー・ヴォーカル「Leslie Harvey」のタイトでメロウなギターも凄く良いです。最後にStone the Crows オリジナル・アルバムの再リリースを希望します。
