Script Analysis for Actors, Directors, and Designers 5th Edition

I failed the class that i had to rent this text book for. Wasn't because of the textbook though I just never went to class.

The reason for the four stars and not five is because I haven't gone through the entire book yet. So far, I find it to be a great approach to analyzing and interpreting play texts from a variety of approaches. If what I've read (and applied) so far is any indicator, this book deserves five stars.

I got this for my kindle app for class. Buying ebook versions really save me money in the long run and I don't have to worry about shipping books back when renting them.

Sensational. I wasn't familiar with all of the plays he examines when I read it. I'd like to read them then read this again.

I am so passionate about renting electronic textbooks! I love being able to take notes without damaging the actual book, I love the fact that the text just disappears after the semester is over, and I LOVE the price!

This book had good examples of how to apply what you learn throughout the process. Sometimes it seemed like there were too many examples, but it was very thorough and helpful for class.

Simply brilliant. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who is involved with play production. Dr. Thomas gives a clear and methodical account of analysing a script in terms of preparing for a performance. Brilliantly he makes it clear that there alternative ways of considering script analysis but this book crystallises and structures the rather more random approach that we were taught some 40 years ago when this level of analysis was not available. Moreover he provides brief historical accounts of the thinking behind analysis. Essential reading I think.
