Overall, this is an interesting, encouraging, and informative book on living a healthier life
This book provides a useful overview of recent research findings, in the hope of encouraging you to live a longer and healthier life. All the traditional topics are discussed, including: obesity, the gut microbiome, fats and cholesterol, excessive sugar, vitamins and minerals, smoking, exercise, blood pressure, sleep, and mental health. The book is wide-ranging, with a slight leaning towards health from a cancer perspective (the author is a cancer specialist) – but this doesn’t distract from the underlying messages. There are a few obvious errors early in the book, but nothing too troublesome, these should have been caught by the editor. For example:*Introduction says “…average global life expectancy has more than doubled and is now well over 80…” – the global value is around 71, the value of 80+ relates to the UK, as given in the associated reference!*p60 says “The world’s population has more than tripled in the last 25 years…” - it actually increased from 5.7 billion to 7.8 billion.Suddenly it feels like there’s a large number of new health lifestyle books on the market, perhaps as a result of Covid19 and how it interacts with health lifestyle. Indeed, this book does have some incidental Covid19 entries. There’s some overlap with other recently published works, including Spoon-Fed, and This Book Could Save Your Life.Overall, this is an interesting, encouraging, and informative book on living a healthier life.

The title says it all
Super informative book. If you want the answer, like me, to “but why?” this book will answer the question properly and in sufficient detail so you understand what is going on inside your body and how you can help it. It’s not a heavy read and super worth it. It is written so you can dip into or revisit sections. I really do think this is worth reading if like me after illness you have received little to no advice on diet from your GP or have been left to search the internet.

Extremely interesting read
Great analysis of lifestyle problems. Probably more depth than many non medical people would like. As a nurse, it really interests me. A lot of sense but probably very difficult to adhere to many of the recommendations.
