Benriner BN-95W Vegetable Slicer, White

As authentic a Mandolin as I could find on Amazon. It is of good size and the blade seems high quality, capable of the thinnest possible slices. I have had it over a year and it has stayed just as sharp and it has no staining, the plastic is quite dense and stable. I was so leery of plastic but couldn’t find a good quality wooden one. A quality purchase that will serve for years.

Very effective at all manner of kitchen slicing.... Vegetables, small cuts of meat, etc. Slices potatoes for so effectively scalloped potatoes are now firmly back on my weekly menu. Slices tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, carrots, you name it, like a knife through butter. If considering buying a mandolin for slicing, I would definitely recommend buying a wide model as it adds immensely to its usefulness in the kitchen. Some nice features are the thickness of the slice can be adjusted. Also comes with specialty blades for fine medium and coarse julienne of vegetables. Made of hard durable plastic, so washes easily. Don't, however, place in dishwasher, it may distort. Would also strongly recommend wearing cut-resistant kitchen gloves when using this. It is easily the sharpest object in my kitchen and the gloves provide a safeguard against slips. Several cut-resistant gloves are available on the Amazon site.

Dopo una solenne fregatura con una mandolina cinese "professionale" in acciaio inox, poco tagliente, complicata da utilizzare e, sopratutto da pulire, questa giapponese è il massimo: semplice, subito pronta, taglia alla perfezione senza sforzo e con precisione. In un attimo si smonta, si lava e si rimonta. Lame di pregio affilatissime e tutte sostituibili (o affilabili). Spero che la mia semplice recensione serva a chi come me cerca un attrezzo da cucina che semplifichi e velocizzi le operazione di taglio. Credo sia ottima anche per i professionisti.

Nice and sharp, makes fast work of slicing and shredding. Plus, you get lovely, uniformly thin or thick slices. But you MUST WEAR A KEVLAR GLOVE! I was afraid of them, but with a glove on, it’s safe and fast. I only wish it came with a storage box. I have nowhere to hang it and it’s not the kind of thing you want floating around in a drawer. And, like all cutters, eventually the blade must be sharpened. However, because the blade only comes in contact with food, and doesn’t get repeatedly slammed against a cutting board, it keeps its edge much longer than a knife. Yes, carrots leave a bit of color on the plastic but it seems to wash away eventually. And, so what? I’m not using it as a centerpiece.

Really good product. It’s my second mandolin which I buy a bigger size. Good Japanese quality.
