Must read
Story was all encompassing for Kendrick's come up. Well balanced story with cultural background.

Highly recommend reading this!
Very interesting read and inspiring! Captivating reading about Kendrick and the impact he's had - and still - on the actual generation. I don't regularly leave comments, but for this book, I thought I'd be sharing how much it's an easy and captivating read.

Crap quality
Product was ordered for a bday gift and arrived ripped and manhandled. NOT COOL. Now too late to return in time to gift.

EXCELLENT Book, especially for the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop
As an assignment, I asked my university students to select any book about the Black experience, write a review ("...not your 8th grade book report..."), and as an option review it orally in class. Two of my students separately read this book. I was delighted and really impressed how their insights and presentations stimulated thoughtful class discussions not just about Kendrick Lamar's poetry, but also Hip Hop's place in history and how Kendrick Lamar's perspective reflects the many literary and musical movements that fit into the genre of Black music. My two students made me promise to read the book this summer, so I did...and so did my spouse. We both highly recommend the book!

Great Read
This book is well written. Unlike what one reviewer stated, this book does NOT pander to Macklemore and the Grammy’s. That was legit two or three pages, TOPS. This book lays a well-organized timeline between Kendrick’s music and events happening within the Black community. It was great to learn more about Kendrick and his artistry but it was even greater to see how much his music has impacted the community. Overall, The Butterfly Effect is a great read for hip-hop heads and those who want to see how hip-hop influences.
