Jessica Powers immediately became my favorite poet! This book is a treasure chest filled with inspiration, depth of spirit, humor and a look into her beautiful soul. It was originally given to me for Christmas and I have since given it to some friends as a gift. It includes inspirational verses from many of her poems.I have since purchased the book "The Selected Poetry of Jessica Powers" which includes many of her poems. Sister Miriam of the Holy Spirit makes her non-dualistic spirituality accessible with inspiring poetry. I am not surprised, given her religious name, that Jessica Powers has a well developed theology of God's Holy Spirit. I reflect on phrases of her poetry I memorized before praying parts of the Mass and Office of the liturgy of the day: Deep in the soul the acres lie of virgin lands, of sacred wood where waits the Spirit. This is basically a collection of snippets from the poetry of Jessica Powers (Sister Miriam). She was a very gifted poet, deeply spiritual, yet down to earth in her wonderful imagery, and her surprisingly joyful wit. Well worth having if you want a handy resume of her works for meditation or light reading at any time.

It was a much smaller and shorter sampling of her poems. I should have gathered that from the title. What was there was good.

Beautiful, inspiring book.Lovely to have on the bedside table.
