Beautiful book
What an awesome book about a great man. A man who loved God and Mary completely. It is a challenging book makes you think I want to be like him. So instead of complaining I will rejoice as much as I can with my daily crosses and offer them to God with all my heart. We may never be like St. John Paul but we can become the best version of ourselves that is all God asks of each of us. Thanks St. John Paul for your example guide all of us to be the best we can. Pray for us

St. John Paul the Great: Man of the Century
St. John Paul the Great....how appropriate of a title for such an amazing man. When I caught word of being published, I wasted no time in ordering both a digital and hard copy. I have felt a personal connection to St. John Paul all my adult life; he helped form me as a young adult Catholic, and I consider him a spiritual father.A book is popular not so much because of the subject or the author, but how the author conveys that subject; Jason's love for St. John Paul is palpable, and it shows in his writing. He also did his homework by consulting such figures as Cardinal George (former Archbishop of Chicago), George Wigel (John Paul's official autobiographer who also guided Jason in writing the book), and Mario Enzler (one of John Paul's Swiss Guards and who also wrote the forward).St. John Paul was truly a man of the 20th Century whose story needs to be told; his dealings with constant turmoil, heartache and changing politics in and outside of the Church is something to admire. Most of all, he clung to the faith that his family passed onto him, which served him well when Karol became John Paul II.If anyone wishes to meet St. John Paul, this book is a great way to do it; I've been catechized a great deal through all of Jason's ministry (Chastity Project). The teachings of St. John Paul are the heart of Jason's work (Pure of Heart, Theology of the Body for Teens, etc.). Jason is unique in his appeal to youth, and I have no doubt his witness and ministry will change The Catholic Church, especially in the U.S. I’ve had the great honor of meeting Jason and corresponding with him; He is genuine and authentic, and youth recognize when someone is both. He truly believes in his Catholic faith, and wishes to help individuals, regardless of religious background, to conquer addictions such as pornography, or helping his fellow brothers in becoming the men God intended them to be. Without question, this is Jason's shining hour both for his ministry and his work; concise, insightful and all the while provocative (in the sense that the reader will wish to follow St. John Paul in his footsteps).St. John Paul the Great...truly a worthy read.

The book gives insights into a truly brilliant and committed human mind
The book gives insights into a truly brilliant and committed human mind. John Paul had plenty of reasons to be bitter and discouraged. He was the perfect example of living the life and walking the talk. He was not overcome by evil (discouragement) but overcame evil with good (absolute compassion). The book shows one who committed his life, innermost being, and expended all his time and effort to understanding the difference between good and evil and practiced good. He did not cover up his own failings but accepted grace to overcome them and embraced his own weakness and pain as examples of how to endure imperfection. Pope Saint John Paul the Great deserves all those titles. He is the example of what a human being can become when one chooses to eat solid spiritual and inspirational food. John Paul's character was honed by the books he read and the people he both taught and learned from. If we, like him, would investigate the concepts of good and evil and meditate on them we -- if we are not psychopathic -- would have no trouble acknowledging that cutting off people's heads, selling small girls into prostitution, and murdering entire villages of people is evil. Neither would we have a problem in seeing the evil of baiting demented religious fanatics into attacking "innocent Christians practicing free speech." Fanatics are fully capable of evil without provocation. Righteous indignation does not justify evil. The book shows thatJohn Paul did not bait the Soviet Union occupiers of Poland. He simply told the truth. The truth frightened them. Hebrews 5:14 in the Amplified Bible states, "But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law." This book gives and example of a "full-grown"man. If any man or woman, likewise, wants to be a moral adult this book gives an example of one. John Paul's life was not a matter of following rules, or philosophies, or doctrines. It was a life to understanding and yielding the impetus that gives worth to each andhuman life. It is a good book to read if one wants to become a better and more effective human being.

An insight into greatness.
I am enjoying this book. It is revealing the heart of a great man through human stories, researched for their sources. The first part of the book follows the life of St. John Paul; the second deals with the five loves of his life, to quote the author's introduction:'young people, human love, the Blessed Sacrament, the Virgin Mary, and the Cross.' The text is easy to read, particularly so if one is already acquainted with the life of the Saint, and has been moved by the events which formed his character.

Excellent book, I'd highly recommend it
Excellent book, I'd highly recommend it. One of the perks of this book are the prayers recited by Saint JP2, Contained within, which I still say 2 years after reading this book. JP was a colossal figure of great holiness which is very apparent in this well researched book and I think there is great value for the soul in contemplating and reading about such figures. One book you won't regret buying.
