Set this up on Ubuntu 20.04 and connected it to a 10gbe port on my switch. The device negotiated a full 5gb connection but running iperf to a full 10gb device only rendered transfer speeds of 2.5-3gbps. I tried to confirm this on my Mac to rule out hardware issues, but it will not even negotiate 5gbps on macos.For the premium price, this device is certainly not up to spec. I would recommend a cheaper 2.5gbps adapter as you get the same performance for a quarter of the price.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this item. I was only able to achive about 2/3's the expected speed, and it's connection would drop several times while in use. It seems to run fine when connected to a 1gb/s or less connection (I get about 600mb/s with it). The unit also seemed to get pretty hot at times. Not too hot to touch, but hotter than expected. When diagnosing network issues on-site from my laptop I needed a connection that is fast and reliable but unfortunately I don't think this is it.
