Fragrance irritates my scalp and that irritation causes increased hair shedding so I was excited to find a shampoo bar without fragrance. I bought the matching conditioner as well. Like many people, I am trying to reduce plastic. I didn't think to look at the rest of the ingredients but when my scalp started to be irritated, I checked and the oil is most likely the issue. Oil is not good for the scalp as there is yeast on everyone's scalp that can start to overgrow when it gets enough oil. Also, natural oils are known allergens because they are not pure substances. I wanted so badly to like this shampoo bar especially since it isn't cheap. Now I will have to toss it in the trash and try something else or return back to vanicream in plastic bottles. I just wish there was a bar without well know to be irritating exotic oils and essential oils. Not everything "natural" is good. Poison is natural too.

I have very sensitive skin and hair as well as very hard water, so I try to use minimal products with as few irritants as possible and try to avoid product build-up. My hair also doesn't like coconut oil, so that narrows down my options even further. I used a bottled sulfate-free shampoo for years, but the brand reformulated so many times that it was no longer working for me. I wanted to try shampoo bars for years, but didn't want to mess with my hair care regime after finding something that worked... so once it stopped working, it was finally time to try something new. Thankfully I didn't have to try a bunch to get it right - this is the first shampoo bar I've tried, and it works great!! My hair feels so much better and isn't getting oily as quickly after switching to this, but it also isn't dried out at all. I love that it has minimal ingredients and that I actually understand all the things I'm putting in my hair. I do have to lather twice, but that's something I already did with my other shampoo, so I don't mind that. And I love all the other benefits of using a shampoo bar, too - less plastic waste, less water, takes up less space, less product needed overall, compostable packaging, costs less... it doesn't get better than this!

First I attached a photo for all those people complaining that it is so small compared to regular bar soap. The dimensions are different than my husband's Irish Spring but this bar weighs more.I tried a few other bars that were advertised for hair and body when searching for a better travel solution and they all left my hair dry and crispy. This cleans as well as any liquid shampoo and leaves my hair softer than my last favorite shampoo. I have fine thin hair that looks limp and lifeless if a shampoo leaves a residue behind, so far I haven't had any problems with that, my hair has had plenty of volume and it so soft. My only complaint is that it definitely takes more effort to lather, so I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.Just like with any bar soap if you leave it in the wet shower all the time and let the water wash it away while you shave your legs and sing your favorite tunes or when your partner takes a shower or it sits there in a sad soapy puddle on the days you skip shampooing, then it will melt away very quickly. The solution is to store it outside of the shower and let it dry between shampooing days. I've used this shampoo for a month now and it nearly the same size as new.Update 4 months later: I'm still using the same bar and my hair still feels soft.

I have very fine hair with a natural wave but in the winter my hair must dry out and I lose the waves. After the first use of this shampoo my hair felt wonderful and the wet hair was easy to brush. After my hair was dry I had waves and its winter. I will add to this review after using this for a while.I also like that it is unscented. I bought another brand to try and the scent was so overpowering that I'm not going to even try it.

This is the first time I have used a shampoo bar. I have shoulder length, straight, medium thickness, caucasian virgin hair. I don't use any styling products or heat on my hair, so I just need a simple shampoo. I followed the instructions on how to use the bar. It lathered nice (as much as my previous sulfate-free liquid shampoo), and smelled neutral. I didn't use any conditioner before using this product and I didn't start after using this product. My hair felt just the same as with my previous liquid shampoo I was using. Overall, I am happy with the performance of this little shampoo bar. It works well as a body wash and I even used it to shave my legs. The company stayed true to their message; the box was paper, and even the plastic tape was compostable.Unfortunately, this little bar went fast. I got about 40 hair washes and about 80 body washes out of it. At that price point, each shower was pretty pricey. Before using this bar, I used Everyone Soap shampoo, which is $9 for 32oz at a local discount store, so this is a huge step up in expense. While it's great that the bar didn't come in any plastic packaging, I wish they had production sites in the US or was at least sold locally. Does it really make sense for me to have a single small bar shipped halfway across the world so I can spare the production of single plastic bottle?
