Great speedlight but discontinued by Nikon
This is the latest Nikon speedlight but is now discontinued by Nikon and is no longer readily available. It works with the mirrorless bodies but the bodies do not initiate the AF Assist beam, so you cannot use it in very dim situations where you need the AF Assist like your old DSLRs used to do. Easy to use and operate, works great, it's not the flashes fault the af assist doesn't work with mirrorless, that's every mirrorless body.

Using this on a Nikon D780
The flash works great on a D780. I'm still getting used to all of the features but like the results so far.

The best Speedlight currently available for Nikon SLRs
This flash is ideal for any high end DSLR (I own the D850) that is a full frame DSLR (D750, D800, etc). It has some great light output and I can even use this with my 70-200mm lens and get enough light in a low light room. I was pleased to learn this works with most of my lenses. I tend to use my workhorse 28-70mm and the 70-200mm 2.8f lenses for a variety of indoor settings. I also use this for flash fill in the daylight/afternoon hours and find it adapts really well. A cautionary note: Make sure you set the MODE to TTL and FP and turn off BL(back lit) unless of course there is actual back lighting. I made this mistake and actually still was able to salvage all the photos I took that were slightly under exposed.

Incredible speed
Multi settings flash quickly syncs with my other Nikkor lighting units. Flash reduction is a breeze.

Amazing flash 10/10
Absolutely love this flash, it has a very fast refresh rate and with the WR-R10 it works wirelessly with my Nikon Z6ii with full control in my camera’s menus. Hope this helps!

Great Condition
This was a used flash. The flash was in such good condition, I could not tell the difference from a new one. Everything was in original packaging. Shipped very fast. It was perfect.

If you are a Nikon shooter and are serious about flash photography - don't even hesitate!
Don't hestitate to buy this Speedlight! I also own the SB-900, which is great flash but suffers if you need very fast recyle times at events or family Christmas celebrations :-) The SB-900 shut down feature only happened once, but it was enough to get my attention. Event photography is my hobby, and I am currently editing my photos from a recent event. I have been noticing how all the pictures have a consistent flash exposure. I usually take rapid photos of group shots to make sure no one has been caught blinking or with an awkward smile. This flash delivers!! It has been well worth the investment and is of classic Nikon build quality. I look forward to using it as a Master flash as I start learning how to use multiple flashes. BTW - the wireless feature was not important to me - I do not own the D500 or D5 - I just needed a highly reliable flash to to great pictures of friends and events. Well done Nikon!

Great flash but with some flaws that are inexcusable considering the high price.
Update: Flash "paid for itself" at grandson's birthday party/Disneyland trip - no battery packs to lug around, didn't overheat as advertised after multiple exposures, great fill-flash outdoors, didn't miss a "moment!" l used 8-Pack iMah HR6 AA Rechargeable Batteries 2400mAh.Bottom line: Fantastic photos when used alone (10-stars). Cooling system works! I haven't tried the wireless features yet, but my primary reason for the purchase was the ability to take 100 consecutive photos before the flash catches on fire (almost happened with my SB-900). And the reason for taking so many photos at once is not to lose any precious moments of a rapidly moving 2-year-old grandchild (think Usain Bolt in diapers), while someone else takes videos.Reasons for 4-stars: These are not major issues that should dissuade you from purchasing the SB-5000, but this is an expensive piece of equipment! 1. Illumination of the LCD screen is insufficient, and all Nikon support could tell me was that the illumination is less than that of an SB-800! 2. Menu system is primitive, particularly compared with other manufacturers' strobes (e.g. Nissin, Canon) and those of other current digital electronic devices in general. 3. Low battery icon doesn't come on soon enough to change batteries when trying to capture important shots at an event, for example, (think bride/groom kiss!). The manual and Nikon tech support were not helpful. 4. Heavy (but compact size is nice).
