Review for Bronies and Pegasisters! :D
Rainbow Dash and The Daring Do Double Dare ReviewThis review is specifically made for Bronies and Pegasisters. I’ve done other extensive reviews on G.M Berrow’s other pony books. I hope to do justice for Rainbow Dash and her book.A little about me, I’m a 22 year old college dude student in EE and CS, I’m a huge anime fan and brony. I love slice of life stories they are practically my life, I live for them.I will put my comments in the following format [ my comments ]Rainbow Dash Background:Ahh, Rainbow Dash arguably the most badass pony of all of Equestria, the pony who’s practical middle name is Danger should give you heads up that this pony means business. Well, if you count the latest episode she has another middle name responsibility giving her full name as “Rainbow Danger Responsibility Dash” now that’s a name! She is herald as a fandom symbol and is arguably the most popular among both guys and girls [cue best pony debate XD]. She is ponyville’s resident practical, sports freak, prankster gal.~ Spoilers after this Point ~ You have been warned!Overall Summary [ Straight to the Point] -We all know Rainbow Dash is a huge fan of the Daring Do’s adventure books. Ever since Twilight Sparkle introduced her to the series during her hospitalization due to a broken wing after a aerial trick mishap, RD has become a bonfide, legit fangirl for the whole series beating Twilight Sparkle in geekiness and egghead cred. [That’s quite a feat!] Now the story, G.M Berrow has written centers around Rainbow Dash proving to everypony that the tricks Daring Do performs in her books are totally doable and with her awesomeness she would prove it. In order to do so Rainbow Dash requests everypony to come up with dares either from their own imaginings or from the book. If she performs all those Tricks then not only will she prove that Daring Do is all that more awesome she will be able to show off again how awesome she is.Things take a different route during the last 3/4 of the book when Zecora shows up and requests Rainbow Dash to put herself to the test by retrieving a stolen artifact, The Half Gilded Horseshoe! Rainbow Dash goes off on her own Daring Do adventure to get the Gilded HorseShoe back from a mysterious new enemy the Zebra, Braze before it’s too late and ponyville is overrun by spirits! RD learns from her venture a similar lesson that AJ learned from bucking the whole Sweet Apple Acres by herself that sometimes you shouldn’t be too bashful or in this case too proud to ask for help.Complete Summary of the Book [A very brief synopsis of the book] - The story begins with Rainbow Dash[RD] and other Daring Do fanatics waiting anxiously in front of a ponyville bookstore for the midnight release of the latest Daring Do book: Daring Do and The Volcano of Destiny! [Think video game release or cellphone release lines for the IPhone. XD]. As usual RD gets impatient [She lives an accelerated awesome life!] because all she wanted was to just grab the book and read the night away. AJ was there with her apple cart doing her usual selling apples whenever the opportunity arises, AJ: “Get yer Apple Fritters of Destiny!!” and Big Mac an apparent fan of Daring Do was also waiting in line dressed in style with only Daring Do signature explorer hat. Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie was helping decorate the bookstore with Plot Twist [indeed], the owner of the bookstore creating a lavish display of Ahuizotl’s temple as a centerpiece for the party. RD rushes in as soon as the doors opens and ends up wrecking the display, but she got what she came for a copy of the latest book [RD come on dude be a little more patient]. The next morning RD and Twilight Sparkle are in ponyville park hanging out, but RD as excited as she was after reading any Daring Do book couldn’t keep her excitement and kept talking about the book over and over again. Twilight being the geek she is didn’t like spoilers telling RD to not tell her anything about the book until she has finished casually reading it. RD replies: “You’re not finished yet?”, “Don’t eggheads like you just, like, look at the books and absorb what’s in them, anyway?” [Nice one GM. Berrow. XD totally got RD here]. RD upset that she had no one to talk to among her closet friends about the book said, I guess reading is just another thing that showcases how fast I am and how slow everypony else is,” “Story of my life…” [We can’t be all as awesome as you are RD. ; )]. Fluttershy leading a group of ducklings to a nearby pond see both Twilight and RD, wondering why RD was upset she comes to Twilight and asks what’s going on. Twilight explains RD’s impatience to discuss the book with somepony, and both of them come up with an idea to host a book club meeting for the new book. RD overhearing their conversation thought it was a great idea! A few week later, Book Club was finally underway this very evening in you guessed it Twilight Sparkle’s house Ponyville’s local library, The Golden Oak Library. As always with any party Pinkie was there to start things off with word play and the usual head scratching though process she has. [At this point in the story I was in glee how GM Berrow includes a lot of background ponies and tie ins to the actual show truly impressive]. At one point during the discussion, Wild Fire asked a horrifying question to RD [Funny how this pony actually represents a animator from the show, talk about being one on one with the characters XD], “I like Daring Do as much as the next pony, but do you really think that all those daring things she does are realistic? … No way could a pony ever really do them in real life!” This of course struck a nerve with RD, she even get so impassioned that the almost spill the beans that she really is real! [MLP:FIM Season 4 Episode 4]. Hearing Rainbow Dash say this, her friends immediately shot a stern look at her to stop talking further about that [Hilarious! XD]. Anyways, since RD couldn’t tell them outright that she is real and that all her adventures actually happened she proposes to everyone at the book club that she herself will perform the stunts and any others they and anypony can come up with. [Thus begins the trials of Rainbow Dash…] So in the morning, Pinkie Pie along with the CMC create the one and only Daring-Dash Board of Dares! Throughout that whole day, RD performed all the tricks from the Daring Do books and any other special requests even the weirdest one which was to babysit Pinkie Pie’s yellow ballon, [She insisted that many things could happen if he’s left alone XD]. Getting worried that RD may get hurt, AJ proposes a dare that she knew would stop RD in her tracks and that was to eat the hottest chili peppers of all of Equestria, Peppers from the San Palomino Desert. To AJ’s dismay this didn’t stop RD she instead goes along with it and does the dare though hesitantly [We know another of RD’s weaknesses aside form apple cider. XD] So the news of RD performing any dare spread far and wide and pretty soon everypony wanted to ask RD to perform their dare. Unfortunately, for RD the stakes would be higher for the next dare. Zecora comes into ponyville square and requests that RD help her get back the Half-Gilded Horseshoe, a relic that is the key to obtaining great riches but at the price of releasing malicious ghosts all over ponyville. RD accepts the challenge, though her friends offer to help RD tells them that she would rather do this alone since she thought they would only slow her down. Rarity suggests that she should at least give her an outfit to match the part and so she could not only look the part but also be able to carry all the the “helpful” items they would give her. At first RD didn’t believe the items were of any value: A piece of rope from AJ, A teddy bear from Fluttershy, some green cupcakes from Pinkie Pie, a pair of horseshoes from Rarity, and finally a bookmark from Twilight. Little did she know that this would help her through all the perils she would face entering the Everfree forest in search for the thief and the Spirit Circle. After going through those obstacles, RD with the help of Twilight’s enchanted bookmark makes it to the Spirit Circle where she confronts Braze, a Zebra with blood-red eyes and orange and red strips. [This is the first time we get a Zebra antagonist, interesting. :)] RD notices her friends have been following her [Friendship is Magic XD] and that Braze had taken them hostage. She makes a deal with Braze that if she were to open the gate to the riches that he would let her friend go. As soon as Blaze gave her the horseshoe she made a quick exchange with the help of Pinkie Pie distracting Blaze. RD does the Daring Do “switcheroo” and makes Braze think that the horseshoe doesn’t really open the door. Then with a quick boomerang action RD release her friends using the horseshoe to cut the fire rope releasing her friends. Braze escapes, and RD and her friends make it out alive. The overall lesson:We all know RD to be undeniably probably the most skillful athlete of all of Equestria and she makes sure everypony knows about it and then some. XD Though she is very talented she can ,like AJ, be very keen on doing things solo. She may even feel that she may not need the help of her friends at all sometimes. She just has to remember that at times she shouldn’t have to hide the fact that she needs help. Don’t let pride get in the way Rainbow! Overall, the book was practically giving Rainbow Dash the lesson AJ learned in Applebuck Season.Good job, G.M Berrow I hope to read your next book on ponies! :)

Great for Kids
I'm a big fan of the G. M. Berrow's My Little Pony books. If you're a parent looking to buy some My Little Pony stories for your kids then this series is the one to go for, as it captures much of the charm of the Friendship is Magic cartoon. The characters feel like themselves, the stories are easy to follow, and the print is big enough for young readers not to struggle too much with, while also being entertaining for you to read to your child yourself. Each of these stories are self-contained, so if you just want to pick up a story about your child's favourite pony and not every book in the series, then that's completely fine. And given the popularity of Rainbow Dash, I'm sure that many kids will enjoy this tale.If you're buying for kids specifically, DEFINITELY go for the G. M. Berrow books instead of the IDW comics, as the books are more aimed at the target audience, whereas the IDW comics are aimed at the older Brony fanbase, having a very different feel to the Friendship is Magic cartoon your kids enjoy. If you're an older fan buying for yourself then your mileage may vary. I'm an older fan myself and enjoy these books because they feel exactly like the show they're based on, but some fans I've heard feel these books are a bit too childish for their tastes. However, if you're a collector and a fan of Rainbow Dash then you should check this volume out. It does contain a few fandom nods and Sweetie Drops (Bon Bon) even has a fair few speaking roles. Which made me happy as a fan of that character. To summarise - if you're a parent looking for a My Little Pony product for your kids then these books are ideal, but if you're an older fan buying for yourself then you might want to take your person taste into account.
