Our favorite collars. I am grateful for the quantity and for the price. My cat is going out, and sometimes he can lose 2/3 of his collars weekly.

The description clearly states that these are breakaway collars. They are NOT. This is an important safety feature, particularly for cats who go outdoors. If they climb a tree (which they will), and the collar gets caught on a twig/branch, the cat will be caught too, unless the collar unclasps when tugged. If he jumps, the collar effectively becomes a noose. I have used proper breakaway collars before and know how they work. I tried several collars in this shipment and none function as a breakaway.As another recent reviewer pointed out, the clasp on the photo here on Amazon (showing a cat) is NOT the same as the clasp on the collars delivered (plain rectangular). It seems clear that the seller is merely sending a different collar than the one pictured and described. When a key feature is changed, this is an unacceptable practice.Otherwise, the collars are attractive and seem of good quality. If the collar is used for an indoor cat who is not one to climb in, on, around or through anything that could potentially catch onto his collar, then perhaps it would work for you. But is it worth the risk?

You get a lot for the money but the collars disintegrate within a month or two. Our two outdoor cats have already destroyed their first collar within a month and are onto the second.

Make sure to cut off the tiny plastic ears or it could hurt your cat. I have read the other reviews before buying and came to this conclusion. I used a nail clipper upon receiving these and decided to take out the bell too. My cats enjoy going outside and I wouldn't like it if the bell was what makes the collar snap off if they caught on it. Snaps off the cat pretty well, does require force so it won't just snap off randomly. I have had cats go out into the woods for 2 weeks and come with with their collar still attached, others without. The collar does start to loose it's reflective band so don't buy these for that specifically, the collar itself does fray overtime but still holds so overall it's a good breakaway collar.

I removed the bells. One of my cats can get it off because the locks are a bit loose. It might be just my cat who is hard to manage

This is the first time I've written an Amazon review, but I absolutely love these, and have bought them repeatedly. I have indoor/outdoor cats, and wanted to make sure neighbors knew my cats had a home. The problem is, my cats are escape artists when it comes to collars. Enter these--I'm not spending a fortune on collars anymore. I feel like the breakaway is a good weight--these usually stay on my cats for several months, but I'm also confident that if my cats get caught on something in the woods, the collar will break and let them free. The quality of the material is very good, but not terrific, I do usually replace them after several months of use--but again, my cats are roaming around outdoors, and these are cheap enough to replace at that rate. I also love the reflective strip--it's very effective. I have a black cat, and he basically disappears at night--these are super helpful with that. An additional plus is that you can easily write a phone number on the reflective strip with a sharpie--that way if your cat strays your neighbors have contact info, but you're not paying $5-10 for a new tag every time your cat removes its collar.

At first I was very impressed with these collars and their quality seemed too good to be believed. I mean, ten collars for $8?!? My cats were so cute too. All five of them lined up and waited to get theirs put on (what can I say; I have very sweet pets). One of ours didn't like his and took it off within minutes. I put it back on and he's kept it on. Everyone else has kept theirs on as well. We have a mixture of cats who have worn collars in the past and cats who have never worn collars before. They all seem to like these.Now onto the issues. I noticed within a week that the reflective tape had peeled off most of the collars from them scratching at it or their nearby fur. The color is already coming off the bells. The smooth fabric of the collar is matting from clawing, more so on some than others. My overall takeaway: you get what you pay for.Our one cat who does occasionally sneak outside has not torn up her collar at all so her reflective tape is intact, which is what is the most important thing to us. She needs to be visible. All the bells work fine so everyone is audible as well. That helps when looking for her outdoors.They are safe collars, decent for the price and seem to work fine for keeping tags on in case one were to accidentally get lost. Do they look nice? Not that great. I have backups because we have five cats and the package contained ten collars. If looks and durability of the actual material (scratch proof) are important to you, look elsewhere. If not, these are great.
