Summary: The Dance Divas, Anya, Bria, Liberty, Rochelle, Scarlett, and Grace, are preparing for a big competition, but no one can seem to get along. Due to personal conflicts, the competition is a disaster, and their teacher, Miss Toni, decides it’s time for a major intervention. She sends them off on a hiking and camping adventure to see if they can learn to work together.Pros: This kind of easy chapter book is often less than engaging, but I really enjoyed reading this entry in the Dance Divas series. The girls are fairly realistic characters, and the dance aspect would appeal to many second and third grade girls who are dancers themselves. Another series by the same author (and her daughter), The Cupcake Club looks good for this level as well.Cons: The whole hiking/camping situation was a little unrealistic. Who sends a bunch of 9-year-olds on an overnight with not enough food?
