Salter Double Deep-Fill Pie Maker, 2 Pie Capacity, 9 Cm

Having researched this product and ‘listened’ to all reviews I decided to invest, so glad I did and was overjoyed with the results. Many people said don’t preheat and add pastry to the pie maker when hot but turn it on when pastry and pie was assembled, I did this and added the 3 minutes warm up time to the cooking time and got first time perfect results! Looking forward to home made pies from now on. Added bonus that the pies were so easy to release and the whole thing so easy to clean afterwards - this wonderful thing will definitely not end up in the back of the cupboard.

Makes great pies, I start from cold and add time to save my hands from touching hot parts. Getting a lot of use from it and envisage more as the cold weather returns

This is a lovely little gadget. Easy to use and clean. The pies are cooked perfectly. The only downside for me is getting the pie out. I just tip them out. (One of my son’s has a different make and has the same problem. Plus, his was far more expensive than this one) so that’s the reason for 4star instead of 5.

My family just love to go to football matches and in the colder months love to take with them a comforting pie and using this simple to use gadget and handy pastry template, which makes two conveniently sized and filling pies. I can be happy knowing that my family can still have a pie on match day, I know exactly what’s gone into them using left-overs, saving me time and money. I even have batch pie making days and put them in the freezer, ready for the next footie season. Please note that this gadget is not designed for cooking raw meats but if you have pre-made a stew or casserole, even left over curry or chilli, use this to make your pies. I also agree wholeheartedly with one reviewer who said to ignore the instructions of pre-heating it prior to inserting your pastry, you’ll burn yourself easily and makes inserting the pastry into the mould difficult as the pastry starts to melt. Start each batch from cold, you’ll still have a beautifully cooked pie in 10 minutes!

Very pleased I bought,after a lot of deliberation and research.Nice and deep,haven’t had any failures.Even when the pastry looks a bit over cooked,it is still nice and soft and not hard.only one complaint,the green light is very hard to see!

Like many of the latest gadgets I have bought, I didn't believe it would be long before the pie maker was consigned to the back of a cupboard. How wrong I was. I just want to keep on making pies! Now, I would definitely recommend not switching the pie maker on until the pie has been assembled in the maker. My pies turned out perfect (she said smugly) anyhow. People have said the have problems lining the Wells. The cutter has little cutting lines and you fold these in on themselves make a cup to insert into the well. Don't worry about the steam coming out of the maker after a couple of minutes after heating up. 15 minutes seems about the right cooking time from cold but you could lift the lid after 13 to check the colour. To remove the pies is dead easy. Have an oven glove on one hand and tip the maker from one side to the other catching the top pie as it topples out into the oven glove. Repeat with the other pie. So easy being non stick. Any frilly edge you don't like can be snapped off to tidy off. These bits are tasty! I had nothing to clean when my pies were out but a pastry brush might be useful. I wish there was a recipe book and a 4 hole pie maker. Yes, I really don't think this machine will be put away any time soon.

This pie maker is well made and definitely deep fill, however for me it was better in my mind than in execution...I could not get the cooked pies out, each pie took more than twice as long to cook as suggested in the manual, if the pastry is too thick it takes even longer to cook, to thin and the contents spill out everywhere. The worst aspect was the difficulty in getting said pies out when they are cooked. what is point of delicious pies if they are stuck in pie maker? The only way I could get them out was to tip the whole machine upside down onto a plate which ended up being very messy. I love a kitchen gadget but this one was a big nope for me. I gave it three stars because it is a pie maker!

Looks cheap and not worth $70. Plug is an American one and no Australian one supplied. Would not recommend
