I'm not sure Failed after 1000 miles but was it my fault?
I bought this and before I knew what I was doing bought separate vortex sprockets. I bought a master link rivet tool and followed the instructions. After about 1000 miles the master link failed and left me stuck on the side of the road, the chain still looks almost new, I went back and found it. I replaced it with a Vortex WSS kit for almost $200 which hasn't come yet but the sprockets got chewed up when it broke, scored on the sides and I got a nick in my engine case but it's not leaking. Can be a very expensive failure. I guess I just need to figure out if it was me and if so what I did wrong. I suspect that based on one review I read I flared the rivets too much. The master link was completely gone so both rivets failed.

It's a master. What else is there to say
It works. It's needed. If put on correctly it'll never come off.

I am extremely satisfied with this
This is a serious, high quality chain. Very strong and smooth, impressive. I bought this to replace an aging Tsubaki chain, and I was shopping amongst the major brands. I decided to try JT because of their reputation in the industry with sprockets, and also the price compared to similar offerings from the top chain makers. I am extremely satisfied with this, installed last week, after 500 miles of HARD riding it feels superb. I will update this review after a few thousand miles if need be, but as of right now I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship. The steel they used is so tough, that I had a very difficult time pressing the rivets on the master link. It was unreal, actually, and I used an extra heavy-duty riveter. I would not waste my time or effort trying to rivet the link with one of the cheaper, economy-type riveters. If that's any indication of the overall toughness of the chain, then I'd say this will be a 50k mile chain easily. As stated, it was a pain in the butt with my extra heavy-duty riveter, so plan on having a powersports shop rivet the link for you or do yourself a favor and order a HD one (I suggest a riveter rated for up to 630 chain) or you can just order a clip type master link. Be sure to get the actual "JT X1R" clip master link, for proper fit (I tried a spare Tsubaki clip link that I had just to see if it would fit, and it was a bit too small) The JT steel is thick.Couple final thoughts: If you are looking to lighten up your bike, this is not the best choice (Heavy-Duty = heavy weight). However, if you are focused on durability and quality, this chain looks bulletproof to me, and nice fit & finish as well. ***Will update review if need be, but I expect this chain to outperform!

Stretched way too fast
I took a road trip after having this chain installed for 5k miles without issue. During the 3k mile trip I had to tighten this chain 3x because it had stretched from 1" of play to over 3" (limited by my swing arm) and felt like it might jump a sprocket. It got to the point I wasn't sure if it'd get me home, so after only 8k miles I have lost faith in this chain and will be replacing it. My previous RK chain lasted over twice as many miles on my VZ800.

JT all the way from Chain and Sprockets.
Stayed stock on front. JT only one with additional vibration dampening rubber seal needed without going overpriced OEM going up from 43 to 44 teeth gave it just a little extra when hitting the throttle without sacrificing the RPMs too much for my longer rides. I went with JT for both sprockets and chain. Very happy with it so far and 2000 miles in use already. I did tighten chain after first 700 miles as recommended by my mechanic. Went with X chain after being advised they are better than there O-ring counterparts. Went steel. It is nice and heavy, but will last compared to aluminum.
