Pirate stew, pirate stew, pirate stew for me and you. The children were undeniably sceptical and understandably so but it was an adventure of chaos, pirates, flying houses and parents out for dinner. I loved this book it drew you in and was amazingly illustrated. A fun read for all ages!!

Incredible pictures, clever storyline and lovely changes in structure and rhythm. This is a must for any 3+ child

I love Neil Gaiman.Have done since my teens when I discovered Sandman, and Stardust. Then American Gods, Coraline and more.Now I am a father with an 8 year old and I am enjoying his books for young children.This is good. Its is a good children's book.Great illustrations and idea. and I loved the diversity in the characters.But - it just doesn't sing in the same way Wolves in the Walls does, and isn't quite as good as The Day I Swapped My Dad for a Goldfish.My daughter loves it though. She loves it when the parents turn in to pirates.Solid and enjoyable, but not Gaimans best. Not that my daughter noticed .....

My son loves this book. We read it every night before he goes to sleep. It’s a funny story with beautiful illustrations. Highly recommended.

A wonderful book with great illustrations. Any Neil Gaiman fan would enjoy it along with their children. My 7,3 and 2 year olds love it.

Love the illustrations and Neil Gaiman steps into children’s book works again. It’s a great big book to hold and be held whilst reading. Gorgeous.

We checked this out from our library several times and finally bought our own copy. Cute story and love the illustrations too.

As a fan of Neil Gaiman's sci-fi/fantasy/other-world-ly writing and a lover of children's books with beautiful illustrations and strong storylines, I was really looking forward to this book. It definitely did not disappoint. The rhymes feel good, the story is charming and quirky, the illustrations are vibrant and lively -- I can see it being a great book for parents to read to their children. I also love that the book is large enough to feel big for young children (there's something about opening up a big hardcover book and having to use your full arm length to turn the pages when you're still small) and the full-page glorious illustrations tingle all your visual senses.After I received my copy, I got a second one to send as a Christmas gift to my niece. She's still a little too young to understand all the words, but I think it'll be a good book to expand her vocabulary through a fun narrative. Hopefully her parents will do a silly pirate voice for the Chef! :)

If Neil Gaiman’s name is on it I am going to read it. Absolutely delightful children’s tale -for any age. Lovely read aloud. The kindle book lets you zoom in and out and focus on different parts - makes reading it over and over ‘less painful’ at the 100th time ;) Seriously though, it has great illustrations which add to the reading experience and a lovely charming story. I also own the book format. Glad the library has audio.
