Surprised by the Healer: Embracing Hope for Your Broken Story

A beautiful book about so many wonderful realities: Gods restoration, forgiveness even after suffering horrible neglect and abuse, God perfect love, the truth that He never leaves and never forsakes us, overcoming fear, hope that all women no matter what their story can come to a point of surrender and live a life serving a God who is perfect, just, holy, infallible, full of grace, mercy and love...I could go on and on. The stories are hard to read and you almost can't imagine someone has suffered so terribly, but there is so much these women have given back to this world and their relationship with God is unbelievable and so inspiring and encouraging. We read this book in a women's class at my church. I highly recommend a group of women reading this together. It brought a sense of belonging and togetherness to the women in our class. And I think it has touched each one of us in different ways that we can use to serve each other and more importantly to serve our God and our Savior Jesus!

I believe I can confidently say that this is the best book (aside from the Bible) that I have ever read (and I have read a lot of books). What makes this one so wonderful is that it is about real women, sharing their real stories. Their stories of pain are common to many women, but are rarely discussed. This book essentially says, You are not alone.” More importantly, it points us to the One who can heal our hurts: God, our Father, our Healer. In this book you will find hope, courage, strength, and surprises as you are led to trust in Jehovah Rapha, God our Healer.

Once in a blue moon a book comes along that has such an impact on your life and in the lives around you that you have to shout it from the rooftops. Surprised by the Healer is such a book. As I read, I was struck by the genuineness of each woman telling her story. The heartbreak and the victory came through loud and clear. Men and women will want to read this as they work through their own struggles or help others work through theirs.I bought 10 copies of the book and I already have more than half of them on my giveaway list. God will bring to your heart those in your life who need to read it! A definite must have for your library!

This book has done more with helping me heal from an abusive upbringing and an abusive husband. I recommend this book to every woman/girl who feels that something is just not quite okay with their relationships. The amazing strength of these women has given me the hope that through our most Amazing Lord, that it isn't me but my family and late spouse that was the problem and to stand firm against any who feel that it is their right to harm others.

Bought this for a client who has experienced a lot of sexual trauma and promiscuity. She's read a lot of books on the subjects and thought this was one of the best. It was raw and real enough to relate too, and while full of hope, didn't feel overly-optimistic in a Pollyanna sort of way, which can be very off-putting for someone still in a dark place.

I bought this for a friend who has experienced trauma but read it first. I am unable to normally read true heartbreaking stories like these, but this was written so well and with incredible hope because of God’s redemption.

While this book was painful to read--each of the stories will break your heart of the pain and suffering these women endured due to the sin of others. However, it doesn't leave you there. You read how God rescued each one from the deepest well of affliction and set them on a platform to speak of God's amazing ability to heal, love and restore.

I love this book and have bought multiple to give to others. Such a raw book and very helpful in healing and understanding my thoughts on different situations.

I believe many of us women are broken and push down the brokenness' thus refusing the healing God want s us to walk through with Him!This book , so well written, and sharing so many ways our Healer has healed these women and marriages through their willingness to walk with the Healer and be venerable and also be willing to allow you to share their testimonies and also to put a study at the end for us to do and to use to implement into our brokenness and allow God and His word to continue to heal our brokenness !I have read many books , but never , with each story has the HS touched me and healing tears flowing , speaking to me of His love and directing me to this book and all the impacting material to help me in my journey, to let God into areas I didn't even realize I had locked Him out of!So timely for me!This is our time ladies to be vulnerable and be healed to co labor with our Healer to give Him away to many broken people!

This book is filled with honest and deep stories of different women and talks about their experiences with pain. I loved reading it and getting inspired by their way of living their faith and relationship to God.

This was a gift but am sure it is helpful to the workshop participant who got it.
