Excellent
Kudos as always Beryl-- love your style always have - it seems to just keep getting better. This book is so needed today-- I enjoyed it immensely!

nice change of pace from fast paced power yoga
nice change of pace from fast paced power yoga. I'm happy to see Birch concede that a more gentle practice can be just as beneficial as the power and vinyasa that seems to be the new normal in yoga studios. I hope this book encourages more teachers to offer classes that every level and body type can practice.

What a great book! Beryl speaks "boomer" well!

Dissappointing
I was hoping for modifications and considerations for older people doing yoga. I was hoping for sections on different aging elements, such as osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, and all of that for each pose. Nothing much out of the ordinary.

A great book no matter how long you've done yoga
A great book no matter how long you've done yoga. Ms. Birch sent me two of her books after I wrote to her yoga studio. Thank you! I just finished reading Boomer Yoga and found the book very good philosophically. I would recommend any yoga practitioner to read this book. She gets deep into our personal lives and even shares her own struggles. The story of her dog Hopi was the best part of the book and I read it several times. The impermanence of things is very hard to get our emotions around. We want what we want and we never want to lose it and yet... the fact is everything will end at one time. I will try out the full poses of her sequence and get back to you if i like it :-)Kristofer Ryan, Author of "Power Yoga For Prisoners and Others Desiring Change"Interview - http://kristofer108.wix.com/yoti

Excellent resource for the aging newbie and the veteran
A serious accident 3 years ago stopped my asana practice (after 30 years); healing took longer and all attempts to 'get back' into a regular practice kept falling flat. This book is just what so many of us need, injured, aging or looking for more, but not really knowing what we want more of. Ms. Bender Burch introduces yoga thoughtfully and thoroughly. From asana to meditation, its all here in an approachable and intelligent presentation. All postures are presented with detailed instructions, guidelines for modifications, etc. and photos, helping those with less than flexible bodies (but flexible minds) engage in a rewarding practice from the get-go. I highly recommend this book for anyone who thinks they are too old, too inflexible or too achey, sick, injured, etc. to start yoga or those that need to re-evaluate their practice and let it evolve further. This would make a great gift for any boomer that has an interest in yoga but thinks it's too late or that yoga is just about pretzel poses.
