This is a great tap, highly recommended for frequent users
This is a great tap, highly recommended for frequent users. I have used it to tap 6061 aluminum and 1018 steel for a few months now, no issues at all. Keeps cutting clean threads and ejecting the chips out the back. If you are an infrequent or inexperienced user, you may want to go with a more conventional straight flute tap, as they are easier to control and get started. The bottoming feature is nice, but can be a bit harder to start the tap straight.For my usage, I chuck this tap up in my cordless drill and set on the maximum screw driving setting "13" for my Makita. The drill stalls out before breaking the tap! This way I can tap holes fast and not worry about bottoming out and breaking the tap.Overall one of the best taps I have used and would recommend to anyone trying to tap holes fast.

Great taps especially if you always break straight taps.
These taps, what can you say. They evacuate chips like a drill bit while tapping and there is less need to rotate back to break the chip. I have yet to break one of these taps while using it in my hand drill. I never use my hand drill with a straight tap since I probably broken more than I care to admit to and ruined many projects because I couldn't get the tap out.I will be buying more of these as I need them.

My night lead snapped the last 1/4" tap off in a fresh hole in an aluminum sheet so I needed to replace it so as I went looking, I saw this one here on Amazon and saw that it was actually affordable! Most spiral, bottoming taps are hideously expensive so we have shied away from them.This tap is FAST and clean, no need to back off to break chips, I even chucked one up and used a cordless drill to drive this tap to see if I could break it in 1" plate... Nope, it cut like butter, LIKE BUTTER!

This thing is a revelation.
Stick it in a drill and go to town. No need to back it out till you hit bottom. I haven't tried it yet raw-dog so I can't speak for its performance without lubrication.

worked like a charm on aluminum
This allowed me to tap a shallow hole in aluminum. I didn't have a very thick material and needed to work with a blind hole.
