FolkArt Stencil Cutter 34008, Black

I have purchased a number of different tools for making stencils that did not come close to this tool. It is perfection and does the job easily, without difficulty and it is the BEST CHOICE EVER!

You can cut narrow or wide stencils. Makes it a handy little tool.

My first time using a stencil cutter. So slow but works like they say. For straight lines xacto is better.

It worked great! I used this to create stencils. It was my first time using one and it made the process so much easier! It’s very difficult to use x-acto blades when cutting a stencil and takes forever. This amazing gadget cut the time by hours!! I was able to complete intricate stencils in less than 10 min. It took about 10 minutes to heat up to full capacity and I kept a rag handy to quickly wipe the tip every now and then as the plastic would accumulate from time to time. The easiest way to describe it is it melts the Mylar similarly to how a hot glue gun melts the glue sticks, it’s about the same consistency. I’m really happy with it. I completed 15 stencils with the curved tip and nothing went wrong.

I got something different. Which, okay. It looks and feels like junk , honestly. It’s folk art brand that I got which I could’ve gotten at big box art stores. Works okay. I don’t trust it a lot, but it does the intended use. Don’t use on super thick plastic. Just medium or smaller mil sheets. Always be safe with it. It can hurt you. But it’s fine for a beginner

I read reviews online. I can totally see where people say the lines are not laser sharp, as the tip melts plastic, rather than cuts it. I would say these comments are accurate, however, if you take your time, I think it can really make beautiful, intricate, stencils for products that don't necessarily have to be clear, cut, perfect lines. I made a stencil for my friend that had intricate leafs and flowers and it turned out more than great. I cannot attest to how long this product lasts, as I have only used it once, but I think if you make sure to not use the product for extended periods of time it seems quality enough to last a long time. Very happy with it overall. It cut through two fused pieces of laminate with little trouble for reference on the material that I used.

This cuts so easily thru my stencil material, like a warm knife thru butter!

This cutter arrived on time, so it gets a star.However,It overheated so quickly (3 minutes) that the metal part turned a permanent dark brown immediatelyYou get burned no matter how careful you are.I found the best way to use it was to keep switching it on and off..It melted the stencil sheets very quickly.It does not cut smoothly.The tips did not screw in tightly, they kept spinning around while cutting, ruining my stencils, and would fall out all together when I lifted my hand. I had to let it cool down so I could put it back in. To keep it in place and stable, I had to strip a piece of very fine floral wire, loop it around just below the top of the tip and tie it off above the circular metal piece near the handle. It took me two hours to make five stencils that I would normally make in 20-25 minutes.I was very disappointed
