This is a warning for those buying this hondashi to make couple of portions of miso soup. This package is BIG, it's sufficient for like a year of miso soup for a family.

Fantastic value for money. Dashi granules tend to be on the expensive side, but this 1kg box is so far the cheapest option.It is a very versatile ingredient — perfect in risottos, pasta sauces and stews. Since it adds "umami" (savoury) taste, you'd need less or no salt in your recipes. Obviously it is essential in classic Japanese cooking.Note: it is a box full of dashi granules; it doesn't contain sachets. You'll probably need an airtight container to keep them in, but at least you can spoon any amount out of it.

箱が無くなり、形態は変わりましたが、中身は一緒です。毎日使うものなのでとても重宝しています。

長年愛用しています。やっぱり味の素のこのほんだしがいいです。
