The Essential Marty Robbins 1951-1982

Without going in to too much detail, I'll let the other reviewers who have written before cover that, I must say that this is one of the best, sound and quality collections of Marty Robbins hits to ever be assembled. I bought it for one song, "Just Married", but there are many others to be enjoyed as well. I had this on cassette back in the early 90's and with it's ready availability and fairly cheap price, I bought it, recently, on CD. The book is very interesting and has some great info and pics. For the one who needs more, you can supplement this set with several single CD's or even more complete box set.

I really like hearing his music, especially Faleena, the pre-El Paso song. Its a fairly long song, but it really worth listening and paying attention to the lyrics. All pf his music is good.

I'm probably one of the few people who still has a car with a casette player. I got these set for long road trips and love it. Amazing track selection, tapes are in great shape and have very clear quality for a casette, and the included literature is very nice. Highly recomended.

Excellent! It is way more than I expected! Well worth the wait and the money.

Being a big Marty Robbins fan I looked forward to hearing some of his earlier stuff; I was disappointed. I started listening to him ~5 years ago (I wasn't smart enough to listen when he was still alive).I guess when you're used to great ballads like Big Iron, Mr. Shorty, Feleena, etc you're going to experience a letdown. Not that the early stuff is bad; it's more like going back to sirloin when you've had prime rib.My next Marty Robbins purchase will be his Western Ballad compilation

This double CD has many childhood popular songs I associate with this very fine performer and composer. What does surprise are the recordings I never got to hear back in the late 1950's. Such a versatility and great singing ability to pull such a crossover of styles, and with the wonderful musicians accompanying him. I found every song of my old favourites of childhood, a great nostalgic moment, and the ones I had never heard, a fabulous rediscovery. This man rates in my newly revised top 25 artists of the 1950's. Without question.

I GOT INTRODUCED TO MARTY ROBBINS THROUGH A FRIEND WHO HAD THIS PLAYING ON HIS CD PLAYER AT WORK. I WAS REALLY AMAZED BY THE DIVERSITY OF THIS 2 CD SET FROM ROCKABILLY, SOME BLUES, COUNTRY WEEPIES AND EVEN SOME BIG BAND SWING . FOR THAT ALONE IM GLAD IPURCHASED THIS, AND AT A VERY GOOD SECONDHAND PRICE .RECOMMENDED.
