Mudpies to Magnets: A Preschool Science Curriculum

Not good for homeschoolers.
This was recommended in "The Well-trained Mind" by Susan Wise Bauer as a good preschool science curriculum for homeschoolers. Most of the activities, however, are written for classroom use so I would recommend just checking it out from the library if you aren't running a classroom.

Wonderful resource for science teachers working with young children
This is a wonderful resource for teachers working with young children or for parents of children who are interested in sparking an interest in science in their children. Many of the activities are suitable for preschoolers and kindergartners. I definitely recommend this book to those teaching science to young children. It has lots of fun, interesting ideas that can be used in the classroom.

Some lessons are simple, some are more indepth.
This has been great for the over achieving mama to have some ideas of how to introduce my little ones to science concepts. Some are more for groups, but I haven't run into one that is too difficult as long as you use a little forethought and planning.

Great Science projects!
I bought this for my 3 year old daughter and my husband to do together. We don't home school, this is just something fun for Daddy Daughter time. They both really enjoy it and follow the instructions easily. Majority of the things needed for the experiments are items we have at home. A great resource to engage young growing minds.

First year preK teacher loved this book!
Oh my....this is a fabulous book! I'm a first year prek teacher with no idea what to do for science and this had everything I needed. Simple things to talk about, most of which used things that I either already had or could buy cheaply. Would highly recommend!

Highly recommend this book!
This book is EXCELLENT for the preschool-kindergarten set. It has fun and easy to set-up experiments and observation along with good explanations and vocabulary suggestions for building a budding curiosity of the world and how to describe it.

Too Many Supplies Needed
For kids so little, I wasn't looking for a science book that would involve so many supplies. I personally just don't have 20 cartons of milk hanging around my house. I enjoyed Science Play by Little Hands more because it involved less supplies and more exploring outdoors.

Ehh
Some of the activities are okay, and some are not. Many of the items concern math, which can be good if you are teaching math. Sometimes the items required are a little too off hand. Overall, it's an okay book.

Good book with many experiments for different ages
This book was recommended to me by a homeschool mom. It does lack visual appeal for kids but I think this book is designed for the parents to use to setup the experiments (not really for kids to look at the book). There are many good suggestions to help keep young minds curious. I enjoy this book and it has helped me to teach basic science.

Good, but dated.
A lot of interesting activities, but many took A LOT of prep work or lasted too long for young children. It could also use an update. Film canisters? Let me hop in my time machine and go back more than 20 years to find some. Some hard to find items too.Still many projects that the kids really loved.

a little disappointing.
To clarify i find that the information in this book is really great! But i also love to go through books with my preschooler, and he usually first gets attracted to the pictures and colors of a book. This book has pictures but they are mediocre at best and only in black and white. However for the price that i paid and it being a used book and all, it was worth it. Content wise. Just don't expect your toddler or preschooler to be wowed by the illustrations.

love it!
The librarian recommended it to me. It has many good ideas of science activities for preschooler. The price is very nice.
