JB-102 Brass Stop Hinge 1-1/4"

These are solid polished (but uncoated) brass. They look good and work well. I would recommend for small boxes which are designed to last.

The Brusso hinges are fine quality. Installation instructions ask that the $40 template or perhaps two templates at $80 be used for a precise installation.The hobbyist installing the hinges on one project at a time may find the up to $120 investment in hinges and templates a bit pricey. It is tempting to spring for the quality hinges alone and carefully install them without the templates.Installation instructions without templates would make the one project at a time hobbyist more precise, successful and happy about the Brusso hinge installation.

I was a little hesitant to order these based on the 2 star review, but I'm so glad I did. It comes with a #4 steel screw to pre tap the holes. All I did was drill a pilot hole with a 5/64 vex bit (vex bits are the only way to go), waxed the steel screw (actually I used chap stick), gently threaded the steel screw in, backed it out and then screwed in the brass screw (with wax of course). Went in like I was installing them in warm butter. These babies are the cat's meow. Look awesome and work perfectly. By the way, the jewelry box was made of wenge and curly maple. The hinges went in the curly maple part (in case you were wondering the type of wood I was dealing with). They are a little expensive, but the box was for my woman and this was no time to be counting pennies. After 22 years living with my idiosyncrasies she earned it (and 10x more). Buy them. They're perfect

very nice hinge but not what I expected.

Okay, I spent 3 days making a beautiful 6 X 10 box out of cherry & purpleheart. Everything square & even, cut away the lid and the top fit just perfect to the base. I handcut mortises into the base & lid for the hinges, then pre-drilled holes for the screws. I lined everything up, started screwing the hinges into the top (yes...by hand, very gently), then the base, and suddenly I noticed that the screw stopped going in. No way, really, stripped the screw head with that much TLC? Really?I had heard horror stories about how soft the screw heads were for these hinges, but I was amazed at how soft they really are. This was horribly disappointing. I'm stuck with 1 screw from each hinge poking out about 1/16" proud, leaving a nice little gap when I try to close the lid.I love the hinge design, which prevents the top from going all the way back. But if you spend $34 on 2 little hinges, for crissake give us decent hardware!!!

These are really beautifully made hinges machined from solid brass (not cast or punched). Solid and thick, stop at 95 degree so you don’t need to add a stay. My package contained the wrong screws (which I didn’t check before drilling, silly me) and so the heads sat above the countersink. I contacted Brusso customer support and they sent me a set of the correct screws right away. Really nice customer service.

These are great precision milled hinges. High Quality and IMHO worth the price.

Brusso makes excellent high quality products. A little pricier than other brands but the quality is much better too.
