He keeps it interesting.
I became aware of Evan from his work with The Faceless on their most recent album and was curious to see what he could do outside the realm of metal. I believe it's safe to say you can't question his chops or instrumental creativity. The album flows through quickly and remains interesting from start to finish. I enjoyed the innovation of his debut disc being constructed of bass tracks only but believe the inclusion of other instruments are a welcome addition to this one. I can't pinpoint any weak tracks here but would humbly request to hear a little more work with less of the percussive/slap vibe on the next one.I look forward to seeing how his career pans out in the handful of years to come. I can't stress how great it is to see a bassist with this level of technical ability not afraid to experiment and get himself out there given the sadly predictable musical climate we're living in at the moment. No reliance on one specific sub-genre fanbase, studio over-production, or fad of the moment here, just straight up human skill. *Cheers*

All killer no filler
Clocking in a smidge over 35 minutes this album is all killer with no filler. Musically this is high energy instrumental fusion/rock that is chaotic at times but somehow manages to hold a groove that is accessible. Odd time signatures and the occasional dissonance make for an intriguing listen that can be truly labeled as original progressive music. This is years ahead of most regurgitated musical slop of the day. The layering of multiple bass guitar tracks is done so well that at times you may believe its guitar. Evan is a monster bass player, awesome composer, and his backing band - Navene Koperweis (drums) and Jeremiah Abel (keys) are superb. Recommend for the musically adventurous.

Must have for an instrumental music fan
Evan at his best, loved it as much as 'Alone'. Imagine a bass-led Animals as Leaders with an even broader genre range and that's around about what you'll get. Love it!

Lots of talent, not much else.
Has some bright, shiny moments but like most music by bass players, it's for bass players. VERY talented bassist for sure but not much else going on here. Listening to this is like being a chef who's told you can only cook with 4 ingredients & your main ingredient is say... water chestnuts.

Virtuosic bass playing who would have thought
I bought this as an experiment it was sort of billed as similar to Animals as leaders who I knew I enjoyed only on bass. Being a bassist I thought what a good idea. This music on this has a more jazzy feel than Animals as leadersthere is plenty of really complex Bass playing but also a lot of interesting Effects used on the bass it is really quite a magical if somewhat short experience but it is a really good showcase of what bass players can do and the potential for the instrument this is virtuoso bass playing at its most virtuosic. Really good c.d

Musician's heaven
If you play bass guitar, you really ought to buy this album. Don't be too influenced by the fact that Evan Brewer plays bass in The Faceless, because not everyone gets off on death metal, but this is not death metal. It's not even metal really, although there are heavy passages. There are also light passages, and lots of dynamic shades in between. The main thing is that this is virtuoso musicianship of a very high calibre.Furthermore, if you're expecting songs, you may be disappointed. This album contains lots and lots of musical threads - hundreds of nice ideas strung together. It is bursting with creativity. I suspect that I'll still be hearing little undiscovered interludes and riffs in years to come. The first thing I did after first play was to play it again, and again. Inspiring for musicians, essential for bass players, and very impressive for any listener who wants to explore originality and virtuosity.
