Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Dry Dog Food, Sweet Potato & Venison Formula, 26 Pounds, Grain Free

My two labradoodles were originally on a raw food diet, then I switched them to a hybrid (kibble & raw) diet because of cost. We first used Orijen which I loved but something happened to their food plant one year and production was halted. No stores were carrying it. Then I switched to a grain free store brand which the dogs liked but left a lot to be desired. I base quality on poop production. With a raw food diet there is barely any poop. Most nutrients being absorbed in the body. With a hybrid diet there is substantially more waste, but there was lots more with my store brand. So I switched to Natural Balance.I used to feed it to my old labrador who has since passed and she loved it. I fed her the fish mixture, and so I tried that with my current dogs. They liked it but didn't love it unless i mixed it with raw food. But they absolutely LOVE the venison flavor and I don't have to mix it with anything. Also they produce a very small amount of waste from this flavor (unlike the fish). Great for their allergies. My boy hasn't had an ear infection yet and he is quite prone to them.

I brought my daughter's pit bull from the Mainland to make her home with me here in Hawaii. At her first health check-up, I was told my dog had an allergy as she licked her paws all the time 24-7. It was suggested she be put on a l.i.d. (limited ingredient diet). After researching many brands, I knew the choice would be Natural Balance. Another neighbor had their dog on it due to allergies and it worked well for them...so I gave it a try also.After about 2-3 months, my dog totally stopped licking her paws. It's now been a year and she still doesn't lick her paws excessively anymore.I buy the Venison flavor. She inhales it. As soon as she began eating it her stools were far more normal (big 'cigars') where-as the old food she had always eaten gave her semi-soft stools. I realize Natural Balance is more on the expensive side but it has shown me it's a high quality dog foodthat certainly benefits her needs......and she loves it.

*Update* Recent trip to the vet resulted in good news - her medication (Apoquel) has been cut in half as her allergies have gotten much better! Our other girl started to itch too so we switched her to Natural Balance LID too. Both are doing much better and remain itch free! Highly recommend!Candy is one of our two (spoiled) furbabies! She’s a bully and in true bully breed fashion, she has severe allergies. Last year we experienced a really scary time in which her eyes were constantly crusty and she began losing her hair. She was miserable 😢 We worked closely with our vet over time and determined that she was allergic to most protein. Our vet gave her a prescription and suggested that we put her on a limited ingredient diet. She can only have venison, duck, or lamb, all of which she’s never tried before and she’s a really picky eater. I came to amazon and couldn’t find any reviews that addressed my specific allergy concern (that’s why I’m writing one) and I decided to try natural balance. So far I have purchased all three flavors by natural balance and she absolutely loves them! They also make limited ingredient wet food that she gets every so often as a treat and she devours the bowl. They have some LID treats too which she enjoys! If you have a pet with allergies, I highly suggest natural balance products. As you can see in the picture, her eyes are no longer crusty! Our vet is happy with her progress and we continue to use NB products in combination with her meds!! She’s one happy pup now and she actually enjoys her food and treats!

This food is awesome. I have been feeding it for over 15 years now and it is great. I am a dog groomer, and I always recommend this food to my customers, especially for dogs who have obvious skin/food allergies. I buy the dry kibble, and for my one dog (who is a bit spoiled and doesn't want to have to chew his food lol), I cover the kibble with water and microwave it for 30 seconds (my dogs are small and eat 1/2 cup) and then let it cool. By then it is nice and soft and he LOVES it ;) I am an Amazon prime member, and was very dissapointed to see that Amazon EXCLUDES this item from their free 2 day shipping! So, I order it from chewy . com and pay the same price and get free 2-day shipping ;) (no Prime membership required! )

I've been buying this food for a while now and was fairly upset when the product changed from a 28lb bag to 26lbs for no particular reason. The only reason I can imagine would be to simply milk more money from the pockets of the buyers. A 2 pound deficit means a number of extra meals.The food itself is excellent. My dog has had very good results for a while on eating this. She has some sort of allergy and this has helped to alleviate some of the discomfort for her. She scarfs it down and has had very consistent and predictable #2's, so I can easily tell if she is not feeling well!Natural Balance, bring back the value you were offering with the 28lb bags. I pay enough for dog food as it is, please don't cut it down even more!4 Stars is for the food quality. I left out a star because of the reduction in bag size with no cheaper a product.

My corgi developed an allergic reaction to both Blue's chicken and salmon recipe & was losing hair on one side of his mouth. Went to the doctor's and we were suggested Royal Canin's hypoallergenic food, but it was $40 for 5lb! Went to a local pet supply store and the lady introduced me to Dick Van Patten's LID. We just finished the first 5 lb of Potato & Venison and his hair are growing back!! Unbeatable price + speedy delivery! Will buy more & definitely recommending to my friends!
