Russian Classics in Russian and English: Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol (Dual-Language Book) (English and Russian Edition)

This is a real bargain. I have found dual language books to be a wonderful way to learn to read Russian. Dead Souls would be very very difficult with just a dictionary. For this purpose one does not need a highly literary translation, just an accurate one. Speaking Russian is of course a different problem.

great book but for a beginner the words wont make sense cause the sentence structure is backwards compared to english. I would just buy the regular book and use google translate for each word if i was to do it over.

this volume continues the series of Russian classics in dual-language format, this time with the complete first part of Dead Souls. As with other volumes, the formatting is well done, the translation does its best to parallel the constructions of the original (this is virtually impossible with Gogol's prose), and the text is clear and readable. this will be a valuable resource for anyone wishing to read this masterpiece in the original.
