Shell Sculpture for Cottage Beach Home

Description

This is like a miniature maintenance-free aquarium! All manner of sea creatures can be found in the crevices of this lovely oyster shell. I've created this seascape using real starfish, tiny shells and rough gem stones of orange and frost red agate. A clown fish with tiny glass eyes swims among the reindeer moss "seaweed". Lapis lazuli gemstones, real coral branches and freshwater pearls, tinted in shades of blue and copper to this ocean world. Gorgeous wave-like chunks of deep blue mother of pearl shells give a rippling of water effect. Underneath the shell, I painted multiple layers of blues and greens to mimic the sea. I find almost all of the oyster shells for my seascapes along the Atlantic coast and waterways of NE Florida. I'm a beach scavenger so I find a lot of shells on my walks. Another great source I found is my yard . . . they seem to grow there and I constantly run into them while gardening! Approximate Measurements: 5" x 3" 1 1/2" tall
